Default Are FE gearboxes normally noisy in neutral?

I did a search and found that many stated that the gearbox is only noisy in neutral if the gears are either not aligned or have abnormal wear. The FE I just bought is makes a chatter noise when idling in neutral. PO said this is normal but that is not what I've found from previous threads here.

    Mine rattles and it's good.
It means all clearances are free and not tightened up.
    Healthy sign.

What's the reason that some would not rattle?

Thanks everyone for the info. Okay, appears al should be fine then. The gearbox was just sent to comprent by Charles not too long ago and minimal time since on the box.

I'm feeling good on my decision to go to FE. Seams like this is a good bunch of guys and I've not had a single question go unanswered. Thanks and look forward to seeing you guys at the track next season!

PS. Don't think this means your off the hook for more answer to questions I haven't even thought of yet...
