Default AIM Mychron 3 dash questions

I recently purchased a Mychron 3 dash and I'm just a bit confused as to what I need to use it. I know I could get data acquisition but I don't really want to drop that kind of coin when other parts of the car need attention.

I'm wondering if I can get by with just a data hub or if I need a data logger? I basically just need it for rpm, oil temp, oil pressure and maybe head temperature for my FV.

    Any advice appreciated.
    thanks,
    Brian

    Default Mychron

Which Mychron 3 did you get? I used to have one so I can answer some of your questions, depending on which model you have.

Brian, you might want to call Ellen or David Ferguson at Veracity Data. They are very knowledgeable regarding the Aim systems, and extremely helpful. They can tell (and sell) you what you need.

We'll be glad to help. If you just have a My3 Dash -- that only works with the Evo4 logger (although there was another serial My3 Dash that only worked with some very old Evo3 systems). Both of those dashes, just have a small cable with either a metal connector (Evo4 compatible), or plastic connector (Evo3 compatible).

If you really have a Mychron 3 logger (several variants), then it will have more connections/wires attached to allow connection to engine sensors, RPM pickup, etc.

Hopefully that will help, but perhaps you can take a picture of the your unit to help figure out what you've got.

I think this is what Brian has:

    Looks to be dash only.

Thanks for all the responses, the above post has the pics of the one I bought. I'm really hoping that I don't have to spend 1,200 on the evo4 logger to make this work . Can you use the dash without any logger?

It's just a display. Something needs to feed it the data. I've seen pretty affordable EVO 3 boxes for sale..

That dash is a CAN-based dash (5-pin metal connector) and will currently only work with the Evo4.
