    Default WGI Championship Weekend

Tim Minor v. Skylar Robinson - who will it be? Skylar has been picking up the pace but Minor has put together a strong and consistent season.

Better yet, what about the weather? Might get somewhat chilly up there.

    Who is coming out?

LaRue could easily be a spoiler in that fight!

    Not really.
It is between the two Citation drivers now leading in the points.

While LaRue is not involved in the title fight, he should be quick at the Glen, as should quite a few other people!

For those madly refreshing their computers at home waiting for updates, I can share that it is indeed refreshing (chilly) and windy at Watkins Glen.

Fatboy Racing is being stalked by a camera crew.

The motor racing research center in town has a cool display/feature on Chip Robinson this month, go check it out!

Robinson and Minor fastest in Friday practice, running a 1:51.7 and 1:51.8 respectively. Not too shabby. Qualifying 1 and Race 1 are today!

Looks like Robinson just screwed his chances for the championship.

Anyone have a link to how points are awarded? The 15 point lead that of Minors that the site reports doesn't sound anywhere near correct.

Congrats to Beasley for the win!

Those points totals assume the 2 drops the Series factors in, according to the timing and scoring officials who handed them to me after the race

With 2x drops Tim had a 5 point lead coming into the weekend, 15 point lead after finishing 3 spots ahead in R1... without drops the disparity is much bigger.

:51 flat-ish in the race coming back through the field... Minor and his Citation are stone cold motorboaters.

I heard a rumor the "drops will be dropped" in 2015.

That would be the best thing to happen to these series' in my opinion. About time.

This may ramble a bit, but I want to say these things:

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations, phone calls, etc. This has been a fantastic couple of years, and it really has been a true team effort. The Citation has become a pretty good car thanks to important contributions and input from a lot of people, and their hard work: Steve Lathrop for an amazing platform, Brandon Dixon for his F1000 effort and continued efforts and intense involvement with the F2k car, Nick Fuhs for the best fabricated parts in the paddock, Wren Keith for his commitment (we had a part fail at RdAtl in 2012- Wren and Brandon redesigned, machined, and HAND DELIVERED the new part OVERNIGHT 12 hours away without being asked to because they care- and that part is still on Tim's car today, 2 years and 2 championships later- that is some bad-a$$ stuff!) Dave Wietzenhof and John LaRue for their faith in Citation through thick and thin, Jeremy Grenier for his amazing insight and stunning observations (and help at THAT test at Roebling Road!) as well as slippery well thought out bodywork, Jim Kearney for his detailed and well thought-out coaching and observations (our eyes on track!), Steve Oseth for orchestrating the test in NC in 2012, Tim Reedy for keeping all of us well fed, entertained and lubricated as well as keeping Minor in the zone, Steve Cole for, well, everything.

Tim Minor- the most honest, hard-working and dedicated competitor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His ability behind the wheel- especially when there's real pressure- is second to none. He works harder on his car than many professional teams- he gives up countless evenings, weekends- and still manages to run a successful car repair business with integrity, and boy, does this guy TRY- at everything he does. I'm so fortunate to work with him- as well as everyone (named above or otherwise) who has had a part in this adventure.

This was a challenging season for me: managing and engineering for a seasoned 53 year old champion and a young and boisterous fast 18 year old both on the same team was not easy, but I just wanted to thank everyone who helped and cheered us on. Thanks to Tim Minor and the Robinson's for having faith in me. We're all lucky to have a NON-SPEC open wheel series to race in (one of the few left in the world outside of F1 if no one else is paying attention!).

    I LOVE my job!!
    Cheers,
    Eric
