Default 1st FST races in Florida

I believe we just ran the first FST races in Florida at Sebring yesterday. Drivers and cars were:

    Andres Mamontoff Evolution FST
Allan Adderley Caracal C Silver Bullet FST

Both cars ran flawlessly all weekend and we had a blast! There was a lot of interest and we answered many questions from other drivers and spectators about Formula First. Several Formula Ford drivers expressed surprise at our speed and how much harder we were to pass than a Formula Vee.

Qualifying times were 4 seconds faster than the best Formula Vee on the 1.7 mile Sebring club circuit. Best time by the Silver Bullet was 1:17.9.

Many thanks to Bill Bonow for sorting out my dry sump system and helping to prepare the car.

Now we just need more FST drivers to join us in the South East and help start a FST race series down here.

That's great news guys. We have had similar response here in the Midwest. Maybe we need to load up in January and head to Florida for a race in a warmer climate!!!!

You would be most welcome. We have an event scheduled the first week in February at the 12 hour Sebring track (3.7 mile course).

Great to see more participation in the SE. People will notice FST cars. In this economy new participants are unfortunately growing slowly.

    Default St Louis

Perhaps venturing North this weekend to St Louis. We have a great event planned and we have a mileage subsidy program. AND (I don't want to say it in public)----The weather looks good.

    Default Pics

Anyone take any pictures? Really would like to see the long aero body in action. It was impressive looking parked at Road America last year.

    Default sebring 1.7 circuit

Just occurred to to me that someone now owns the FST lap record on the Sebring 1.7 mi club circuit

Allen reported the Silver Bullet had a 1:17.9. Was Andreas any faster?

I want to post this on our web site.

Default Sebring 1.7 mile Club course

Nope. 1:17.9 was the fastest lap between the two of us. I believe this is at least a second below the FV lap record here, maybe more.

    Default November Sebring race

P.S. I will be running the 3.7 mile Sebring historic 12 hour track this weekend, unfortunately, in a Formula Vee as Andres couldn't make it.

Just changed from the long box I used at Daytona to the short box. A six hour job for two people who sort of know what they are doing!

Anyone one down here thinking about running FST please show up and stop this madness!

    Default 2015 Sebring race

For those interested in a 2015 winter vacation in Florida the Sebring race will be held February 8th and 9th on the 3.7 mile 12-hour track. Registration can be completed online at dlbracing.com when it is posted on their website.

A test day is scheduled for Friday, February 6th which is managed through the Sebring International Speedway (www.sebringraceway.com). Registration for this usually held at the Chateau Elan hotel adjacent to the track, also a great place to stay while you are here (it's about 6 miles back into town).

Recently, the Central Florida Region, SCCA, places Formula First with FV, CF, and FF as a race group for the weekend with two races normally scheduled. Practice and qualifying is combined with all formula cars, P1, and P2.

Just thinking. Is there RV parking and camping at this event? Cost extra?
Any FST's going to be there? I am considering a winter trip. I would probably bring the trailer since I have to deliver some parts. Will anyone need tires (Hoosier) ?

The 2015 race entry is not posted yet at www.dlbracing.com but you can look at the 2014 event regs on the same site. Chances are the 2015 event will be conducted in the same manner.

Last February camping was allowed with a maximum $30 charge for RV electric hookups, a pretty good deal.

So far Andres and I are committed for this race in FST. Anyone else coming to sunny (and warm) Florida? Online registration via www.dlbracing.com should be available any day now.
