Track conditions still suck. Super greasy. Very little grip.

FYI, while I disagree with Brian's assessment of Jonathan, and I do not think he should have shared it here in public, I would like to point out that Brian was one of the first people to say "call me" when I first expressed a renewed interest in FV. He sent emails with pictures and explanations of what he was doing and why. I have spoken with Brian on the phone on a couple of occasions and he has been very helpful and forthcoming. One thing is clear, right or wrong, Brian does spend a great deal of time studying the subject of FV and takes absolutely nothing for granted. This extends to his comments here on Apex that seem grating to many (maybe most), but I usually find logic behind his comments.

Anyway, I think Jonathon is going to be right there at the end and I expect there to be other company. We shall see.

Let me guess: He was offering you one of his illegal Monster Manies. I got the same emails. Not impressed.

No, I've never been offered a monster manny. Brian was very helpful in answering some technical questions I had regarding FV design. Brian's emails were in response to my follow up questions.

I saw some footage of what I think was Weisheit going for a rollercoaster ride. Any word on how his car ended up? Is it repairable for the race?

Not surprising to see MV well clear of the field, but it looks like it will be a fight for the rest of the podium. Should be a good race if it stays green.

If 2nd through 7th+ place qualifers race with each other early on, then it will be over by the 2nd lap as it was last year and MV will use it to his advantage and just motor away. If they work together and use their heads, they may have a chance to keep up.

ABSOLUTELY zero chance of that happening. Positions 2 & 3 should act as a buffer preventing anything possible accident for Varacins in the first few turns. Midway through the first lap he should be clear of any crazy possible braking attempts.

Positions: 4 & 6, wild mature drivers, 5 is youthful exuberance, 8 is youthful recklessness.

NASCAR style, no mention of names. Does that meet with your sensibilities?

The track will work for you if you let the line flow ,don't tighten it up after turn 11 do not turn your wheel until you reach the double apex big gains here.
    Best of luck.

    1- Shields
    2- Quinn Posner
    3- Gavin Sweeney

    Congrats to the Podium!

So sad for Terran. I feel for him. He ran a great race. We all trust our engine builders, manifold manufactures, etc. to give us a product that is legal. Even they can make mistakes sometimes. This time the top 3 all get DQ'd for stuff they likely had no idea about, and likely did not actually change the outcome at all. Oh well, that's racing.

    Congrats Rick Shields!

    Default Runoffs

Wow, what a development! First, want to say that Terran did a great job! Sad that a small infraction lost Him a championship, but He can hold His head high for a fine driving job. Rules are rules and apparently He was not alone I n issues of legality.
Really unfortunate re the first lap incident with M. Varacins. Next year fellas'!

Not really for me to say. I wasn't in the tech shed.

Heartbroken for Terran. A young guy who drove an absolutely awesome race. Really too bad.

Valve lift on Terran. Manifolds on Roger and Andrew. But the way tech was handling things, we all questioned their ability to properly measure Manifolds. It was a comedy of errors for a while it seemed.

Terran still deserves the win. Zero performance advantage (same goes for Roger and Andrew). Terran crushed it. All of these guys still deserve where they finished.

    1) Some of the manifold issues could come from the fact that a different person was doing the measuring. The way one uses a caliper on a thin tube manifold can make a difference of a few thousandths in the measurement. There is a good chance that Fred Clark had a heavier touch than the Laguna tech person. There is every possibility that the failed manifolds passed under Fred's RA inspections. Nothing that the builders can not adjust for if that is what the customer wants.

    2) The drivers take risks on the track and the mechanics take risks with the car. The closer to dimensionally perfect a car is the faster it will be. There is always a chance for an small error to put you over the line. No different than the choices the driver makes. If you are worried about a small error catching you out then have the mechanic dial back the perfection. Varacins is my only customer than has me step back from the edge at the cost of some performance. He has a high probability of going to the tech tent and he understands the variability of the inspection process. This week with everyone more than 1.5 sec off the pace, could they afford such a conservative approach?

This all about risk management and who makes the correct compromises.

The Speed Sport AM-5/Veetech engine/Varicins combo is quite an ass-kicker... why is (was) there only 1 SS chassis in the RO field?... Proprietary to Varicins and not for sale?... just a question from an interested but FV-clueless FC driver...

The car Mike drives was designed and built by him and his dad. I think they are willing to sell them, but only if a group of about 5 people were interested. Finding 5 people willing to drop the coin needed is likely not going to happen.

It is important to point out though, that it is not just the car. With the amount of time and effort Mike and Al put into the car, he could be just as dominant in a Mysterian, Caracal or Vortech (or whatever for that matter) if he drove it.

    My opinion anyway.
