This is what it looks like; however, can't remember where it was. Maybe someone else can tell from image.

Tag on bulkhead by left thigh just says : Reynard 85 - 032

cannot find your standard Reynard tag.
does that make it an 85 or ?
what side would the SCCA stapping be on the rollbar? or where?

    Default SCCA numbers

There should be a small hole drilled in the main roll hoop, next to which should be the SCCA log book number.

My Reynard was an '89 per the metal tag riveted to the roll hoop inner cover. But the number stamped in the chassis (in the frame by the dash hoop) was 88- something. All the documents, (log book and homologation cert, etc.) listed it as an '89.

John Bachman suggested that I contact you as I just picked up his 86 Reynard. It is now at my house in New Jersey. I am just digesting what I purchased. I spoke with AJ and he had some stories about the car to tell me. So I am casting about to learn what I can learn about it. I know it is foolish, but it would be nice to find the original rear wings. I know they were too big and the the old one was lost in Fred's garage, but I like the way they look. On a more serious note, I do intend to put the car back together, but it will not happen soon. I still have to fix my daughter's Van Dieman and I am planning what to do with my car. Yours, Paul 862-668-7630

The 88 is most likely the SCCA Region number that issued the original log book and stamped the roll hoop. That would be Arizona Border Region - around the Tucson area. That number is generally the Region number followed by a consecutive number of the log books issued from that region. Not related in any way to the year/model of the car.

In this case no, it was the year the frame/chassis was made. It was (obviously) not assembled and shipped to the states until the next year, thus the 89 designation.

Hey guys, we had a 1989 and a 1990 Reynard. They BOTH had the chassis plates riveted to the rear fire wall just over the drivers right shoulder as I recall.
