Default 45 Years of Formula Ford!

An Invitation To All Formula Ford Racers
    Forty-Five Years of Formula Ford
Who: Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR)
What: A Formula Ford Invitational race weekend inviting all Formula Fords, regardless of year of manufacture.
    When: July 27-28, 2013
Where: High Plains Raceway in Colorado

Why: To celebrate 45 Years since the first points championship of Formula Ford racing.

Each year RMVR has a charity event race weekend. This year is our Third Annual Race Against Kids’ Cancer to benefit the Morgan Adams Foundation.

Our Special Feature this year will Celebrate 45 years of Formula Ford. We are inviting all Formula Fords, including all contemporary cars. This will produce a giant assembly of these great race cars, certainly one of the largest open wheel grids in RMVR's history and probably the largest grid of FFs in the entire history of regional FF racing.

If you race a Formula Ford, please join us. Here is a link to a more detailed info sheet on what promises to be a fun weekend. Please feel free to contact (see info sheet) us with any questions or post you questions here.

Two weeks to go. Beat the humidity, come to Colorado, race High Plains Raceway and support a good cause.

We're close to 30 FF's with more expected and with good representation of all era's. It's looking like it will be a great race weekend and it's not too late to sign up.

Qualifying/practice then 2 races on Saturday; warm up and 2 more races on Sunday for just $250. Each races' starting position is determined by qualifying for the first race and finishing position of the previous race after that so you'll end the weekend where you should be as you learn and get comfortable with this great 15 turn, 2.55 mile track with lots of elevation changes. Everyone who races here loves it, and you would too.

Default 37 FF's entered and still counting

Come on folks, it's not too late to get in on the fun. Not sure but I think this might be about the biggest FF field since the RA 40th. When was the last race where you had umbrella girls?

It was a blast! HPR is a challenging, fun track, the racing was superb, RMVR is a great group. After a Saturday night thunderstorm, they even went so far as to have overcast skies on Sunday morning, followed by some light rain, just to make it feel more like the Midwest! Early Sunday, one driver asked if we were at Mid Ohio! Then it cleared and dried by noon, and we all went racing.

Thanks RVMR, for including us "Modern" FF's. And, it was for a great cause.

My only regret, I didn't have time to get a ride in the 1966 Penske/Donohue Lola T70 CanAm car. Yes folks, THEE car. $100 donation to the MAF and you got three laps, at speed. There's always next year.

Did we have fun, or what? The Umbrella Girls were a huge hit! Check 'em out. As good as Formula One grid girls, don't ya' think?

Umbrella girls sold out for every grid raising some great money for the Charity. And it wasn't that hot (the weather, that is) By the way, there is a 2014 Calendar in the works featuring the same grid girls posing with some neat cars. When available, I'll post here. All proceeds to the Morgan Adams Foundation.

We're doing it again this year!

If you missed it in 2013, please consider the the RMVR Charity event Aug. 2-3 in in Colorado. This is a great circuit 2.5 mile circuit with lots of elevation change.

This race weekend will again feature invitations to all Formula Fords, even contemporary cars. However, the field of 39 FFs last year was almost entirely vintage ('72 or older) FFs and CFs (up to '81). There were also a few newer cars. We hope to equal or exceed that number of cars this year. Entry fee just $275 with three track sessions each day and a Lapping Day available on Friday (rent from the track) for another $150. Darn good value for the money. Combine the trip with some vacation days visiting to colorful Colorado.

Also, we're having a Thursday evening seminar conducted by Ross Bentley (Speed Secrets). Small fee, but if you raise $500 or more for your Charity, you get the seminar free. See above link for more details.

Default AiM Sports data acq. seminar

Another thing we're doing at the Race Against Kids' Cancer is putting on a data acquisition seminar at the track on Friday, July 31st. Anyone who raises $250 or more is invited to attend the seminar with Roger Caddell from AiM. He will spend the morning discussing how data can help you improve as a driver and racer and how you can use it to improve your car. At lunch Roger and Ross Bentley will have a discussion about how driver coaching and data can be used together. Finally, Roger will put Solo systems in a bunch of your cars for the afternoon to collect real data that afternoon to analyse and discuss.

If you are thinking of getting data or already have it, this will get you well up the learning curve in a hurry. At the same time, you'd be supporting our efforts to fund much needed pediatric cancer research through the Morgan Adams Foundation

Come on out the the race, it will be a hoot!
