NARRA and Motorsports Southwest are pleased to announce the inaugural race of the United States Prototype Championship.
The first race will take place at the North American Road Racing Association's 3 day PartsRack Grand Prix of Sebring, November 21-23 2014.
The series has the potential to have 4 races weekends in 2015 within NARRA events and additional races in conjunction with other sanctioned race organizations.
NARRA runs a very professional event. Please check out their website. http://narraonline.com/schedule. This is also where you can register for the event.
The series is dedicated to Prototypes of most types with multiple classes with a point system and prizes for each class.
Two seat and single seat prototypes with car engines or bike engines are all eligible. This is dedicated track time for prototypes only with no GT cars on track.
We currently have sponsorship for trophies and prize money from Motorsports Southwest and Praga USA and are looking to add additional sponsors. If would like to help sponsor this very exciting Prototype Series, please let me know at dean@motorsports-sw.com or call 512.413.5359.
The inaugural race weekend at Sebring will be:
Friday – 1, 25 minute track orientation session in street cars (open to all participants) and 4, 25 minute test sessions
Saturday – 1, 15 minute warm-up, 1 20 minute qualifier, and 1 30 minute sprint race. We plan on having paced parade laps during the lunch break.
Sunday – 1, 20 minute qualifier, and 1 90 minute enduro.
We are looking into the feasibility of the 2015 format consisting of 2 sprints and 1 longer enduro race per weekend.
Entry fee is $1100 for the Sebring weekend. To ensure NARRA that we have good participation the amount must be paid in full at time of registration. If we do not get 10 cars by October 15, your registration fee will be refunded. Cancelations on your part for any other reason, or no-shows will not be refunded. This is not a typical NARRA refund policy and is in place for Prototype class only at the Sebring event to help encourage people to sign up.
We want to make this attractive to all prototype racers to provide a dedicated venue without GT cars, Formula Atlantics, etc. Wolfs, Stohrs, Pragas, DP02s, Wests, Normas and others are all welcome. We believe this is the first Prototype only mixed sprint and enduro series ever offered in the US.
