Looking at it more objectively this time and giving the WF1 the benefit of the doubt, I am guessing " that the WF1, was now more aware that there was a FB battle going on, that the FB behind him and gone off trying to avoid less than a minute before. He was either giving him the apex for as long as he could and then said "okay you don't want it? I'll take it." or he was just watching his mirrors for another pass a bit too long and missed his apex and turned in abruptly before he was in the clag.

In any event, the abruptness could appear as blocking IF you are the FB that just went off 30 seconds before trying to avoid and then see a big hole get slammed just as you start to commit.
    Daryl:

I hear you, but no benefit of the doubt is needed. The WF1 driver was on a pretty typical line through the entry to the carousel. Not dissimilar, by the way, to the line that Jeremy himself was taking in clear traffic. I can understand why Jeremy would have been frustrated and impatient in trying to get around him, but it wasn't a block. He tried to get his nose in there, but he was too far behind to start off with to make anything stick.

To wit, here's Jeremy a couple of laps earlier at the same spot. Note the positioning of his car relative to the pavement change:

And here's the setup to the incident in question - at basically the same point on the track as above, if you note the transition from concrete to tire wall - where Jeremy is too far behind to realistically expect to make a move given that they're already in the corner. Note the positioning of the WF1 relative to the pavement change. Look familiar? He was racing a pretty typical line.

Again, I understand being impatient and frustrated in Jeremy's shoes. But the guy in front of you turning down to the apex in the midst of a corner while taking a perfectly normal line doesn't constitute blocking.

    Cheers,
    Rennie

Damn, the more I watch that part of the video (4x now) the more I realize my initial impression was wrong. I guess my perception was too skewed as I was watching vicariously through Jeremy's eyes.

I've edited my initial post on the subject.

I'm going with Jeremy was on a mission. He took an atypical line to set up a pass at the exit of the carousel that wouldn't cause him to lose momentum. He then proceeded to catch him at an inopportune time, had to breathe the throttle a bit to gather it back up....for those of us rooting for Jeremy it looked like a block.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

After the first 2 corners all I could think of was somebody telling Coop to go out and hit the pace car.

Naw man! The P cars in front of Alex broke very early forcing him too also and Cole Trickle couldn t get it whoaed up in time. You can see the missing orange stripe on my frront wing leading edge from the contact with Alex s rear tire.
I shoulda just gone with Plan A and run it up the inside of ALL 3 of em! ;0)

Ps Alex and I were on brand new unscrubbed skins...

There were a couple P1 and P2 cars that were oblivious to their mirrors during the weekend and we ran into the same thing a couple of weeks ago at Mid Ohio. They need to realize that we are not in the same class as them and that letting us by does not affect their position in the race.

Also I agree with you Mike, Road America could clean up their clippings or they could cut the lawn a week earlier so its all gone. We stuffed and overheated our car last year for the sprints.

Damn you guys, that was more fun to watch that almost any F1 race I can think of.

F1000 not only sounds better than any other class out there, racing like that is about as exciting as it gets too...wow.

Hats off to Jeremy, Alex, Coop, Mike, and Everybody else.

    Wish I'd been there!
