Thanks Mike, I had Paul Decker in his Mk1 DSR (Decker Sports Racer) right behind me for the first 9 laps. It may have been 27 years since his last race season, but he hasn't forgotten now to race!

The car has the wheel/tires & bodywork in S2 trim, only the engine and drivetrain are built to the limit of the P2 rules. We didn't quite eclipse my S2 lap record (1:48.9), but I will say the laps in the P2 car were much easier to achieve.

I'm still coming to grips with how fast I can shift the sequential gearbox. I was initially quite slow shifting down, and this required a longer brake zone in order to finish the downshifts before turning in (need both hands for that!). That is where I'm giving up time right now -- the time loss in braking was greater than the time advantage from the extra 50 hp on the straights.

    Post Great job.

You did a great job. Both in building the car & driving the race.

This being the first time you have driven the car in a race since doing the conversion.

    I can say I was impressed !

BTW - I really enjpoyed the coverage & documentatuion of the conversion that you shared with us all on the Forum.

    Again, great job.

    Thanks.

    Mike

Yes...the engine does sound wicked! How did you know that from Hotlanta?

Seriously, folks...David's new engine has the perfect blend of tone, pulse spacing (different to the Zetec and Pinto?) and revs. Nice job, David!
