    Default Things With Wings

Completed FB last summer and took it to 3 test days at Waterford Hills. Learned as much as we could there and will race the car for the first time May 10th at Gingerman. The most interesting change that I have made to the car are new side floors that enclose the rear lower a-arms. I'm anxious to race it.

The airplane was my project this past winter. The photos pretty much show its construction. The tube frame carries the major loads between the engine, wing, landing gear, and tail assembly. It also protects the pilot to some extent. Wood is the major structural material. However, carbon fiber pultrusions imbedded in the wing spar caps carry the majority of the wing bending loads. I'm anxious to fly it.

    Jon,
Is this a variant on the S300 or a new design?

    Jon

Provitz told me about this plane, twice over the weekend. That is a work of art.

Ya, the time to build a homebuilt airplane is typically about 10 years!

Sorry for not getting back sooner, but I remembered that my garage needed cleaning.
This plane is not like the ones that I built for sale. They were all tube and fabric except for the wing. Very light and strong but not that good looking.
Clark Lincoln had a hand in the paint scheme on this project. I like it a lot.
The plane will sit in my shop for a while I do some other stuff, like concentrate on my FB. I just finished building a spare engine for it today. I have a long list of things I want to do to the car.
Your comments mean a lot to me, and are much appreciated.
    Thank you.

You can do some of your best work and be very proud. Then you go to Jon's shop and see what he does, how fast he does it, and how little was spent to do it. You leave feeling completely useless.

Last I talked to Jon his investment in the plane is less than most used cars.

Jon's time line to the rest of us is in dog years I think.

Once yet again Jon truly amassing.

I joined once I saw Jon was here. Seems it's inspired by CAP 231/2.
I've owned an Extra 230. Thanks for sharing.

    Default Les Staudacher

I never put it together but is it safe to say you are related to Les Staudacher?

If so would you share with everyone the Straudacher history for those of use that know and wouldn't understand the use of the wood on so many projects.

    Thanks

    Default Les Staudacher

My brother Mark has posted a lot of my dads 16mm movies on You Tube.
A lot of the stuff is not very interesting, but the Stars and Stripes II jet boat films are. It had enough thrust to go straight up.
Dad built me a workshop when I was twelve and we heated it with left over jet fuel.
I could go on and on about what a great guy dad was. A lot of my friends were inspired by him too.
