(January 3, 2014) - The US Formula 1000 Championship presented by Hoosier Racing Tires has released its race schedule for 2014. Like last year, both the East and West divisional series will focus on five specific double weekends, plus the Runoffs finale crowning the nationwide champion.

The East series will kick off the season at Road Atlanta in March as part of the 3-day Majors event. In April, the series returns to Virginia International Raceway for the Oak Tree double national. After a long break during May, the series resumes at Road America as part of the June Sprints. Three weeks later, the series will return to Watkins Glen for the 4th of July double Majors. The centerpiece of the 2014 US Formula 1000 East Championship will also be the season-finale when the series makes its debut at Mid-Ohio. The East championship decider will be a double national with the Formula 1000 cars qualifying and racing in a stand-alone group.

The series will once again meet up with the US Formula 1000 West Championship to decide the overall US Formula 1000 Champion, this year at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in October.
Finally, due to popular demand from the series drivers, the series will return to its roots with an exhibition race at Road Atlanta during the American Road Race of Champions in November. This event is where the Formula 1000 Championship debuted back in 2007. Stay tuned for more information on this fun event!

The West season will kick off at Thunderhill Raceway in April, followed by Pacific Raceways & Portland International Raceway. Next up, the West series will be heading to a new road course the West division has not yet run, the Ridge Motorsport Park in Shelton, WA. The West series will close off its divisional championship with a double header at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in mid-September.
