Default Hybrid Vee / FS question

Out of curiosity: Could a newer ( FST ) engine be put into a "standard" Vee and race in the Vee race group outside the class rules - as an FS say? Is it technically possible? Is there any downside to the idea? For that matter, could an otherwise legal Vee be fitted with a later aluminum block and run as an FS? Just wonderin'.......

Sure. FS only has minimal rules for weight and wheel base if I remember correctly. As long as you meet those and have the car dual homologated to FS you would be legal. Now understand that at just about every regional races FS runs in the wings and things group so you better be ready to watch your mirrors. Doesn't sound like much fun running by yourself and getting lapped 3 or 4 times a race by FA/DSR/CSR/etc.

John, just explain what you want to do and ask your local Region to put you in with the wingless group...FV, FST, F5/6, etc. That's what the original FST guys did back when they had to run as FS cars. Most Regions were very cooperative...they don't want gross mismatches of speed any more than you do. Good luck! Stan
