    Default Alfa/Hewland adapter

I've been contemplating a project that would require mating an Alfa Romeo 4 cylinder (1300 or 1600 cc) to a Hewland Mk. 8/9 transaxle. Would anyone here by any chance have a line on a suitable adapter?

I used to have one but sold it after my divorce along with a 1300 twin cam Alfa that had been in a Dolphin DSR. No luck tracking the guy I sold it to.

    Thanks,

    Kip

    Default not a bad idea

But I can't believe I did not have the presence of mind to unbolt the nice cast aluminium adapter off the 1300 I used to own. STUPID!!!

So here's what I'm thinking of:

    http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/va...77661502ss.htm

Bolt in a mildly prepped 1600 Alfa Twincam with twin Delortos, splash on some red paint and PRESTO! (I would then have a gazillion dollars into a monumentally uncompetive and totally unreliable CSR.)

    Somebody stop me!

    Default Roger Habisreutinger

I saw the pictures and the owner of this was a customer of mine at Essex racing in the mid 80's I think. Nice guy - whatever happened to him. This may have been one of the Bob Shader Supervees looking at the picture. I think we owned it for a while as a CSR.

    Cheers, Paul
Thank you, Paul, I'm still interested, so by all means please look in the rafters.

Art, I will try and call you Tuesday or Wednesday.

Also just got a tip from someone that Orion Motorsports might be a good source and I've reached out to them as well.

    Thank you, all.

    Default Got it, Thanks!

    Paul,

I got the adapter today; as I told my brother it is the cornerstone of my next race car project.

Now all I need is a gearbox and Alfa motor to go on either end of it. And a chassis...

    Should be fun, thanks again!

    Default 1600 Alfa engines

I have a couple of 1600 Alfa engines buried in the Catacombes. I seem to remember a couple of guys running 1600 Alfas in Formula B back in the 60's . The Twist and wearing a neck tie were the big thing at the Saturday night race parties at the Holiday Inn lounge back in those days! Go V.I.R. !!! Where in the world did that come from?
