    Default Budget P2 Concept

A lot of you know that I would very much like to get rid of my latest project (see Marty’s Creation under Track Day Cars in the sportsracer.net forum). I listed it for sale in the LocostUSA forum for $7500 and have had three people interested but nothing has come of it. Following similar items on ebay indicates I could probably auction it next spring for around $5000.

So, here’s my latest scheme. Upgrade it to be P2 legal and sell it for $5000 plus all material costs (labor would be free) necessary for the upgrade. So far, the required upgrades include forward roll hoop braces, an approved fuel cell, a fire system, Formula Continental sized wheels (4 x 100mm lug pattern) and slicks, a transponder and various body and undertray fabrication and mods.

For those of you concerned about the Honda CBR1000RR engine’s absence from the P2 engine table, I have formally requested that the CRB add this engine. If they do approve it, I have no idea what restrictor they will place on it. If they don’t, this whole deal becomes a little less tenable.

So, what do you think? P2 will probably need all the entries it can get. Know anyone that wants a low price entry to the glamour of SCCA Sports Racing? I will probably need a deposit before any further work can begin. I might also be tempted by a single or twin motorcycle project as partial trade.

So what are your plans for the body? Are those front fenders fixed or do they steer with the tires (and are they P2 legal)?

    Default First of all

I am astonished you found this post. Generally, when I post on a topic (even my own), it's the kiss of death for the topic.
The fenders are fixed--kinda, they are designed to allow outward movement to cover slicks with different offset wheels. Anyway, they don't steer.
Are they P2 legal? Probably not now. SCCA prohibits "cycle fenders" and gaps between the bodywork and the fenders. Probably an odd concept if you look at the gaps between the front fenders of a WF1 and it's bodywork. They can probably be made legal with a few shadow plates and other bits of carbon. Same probably hold with the floor ahead of the side pods and behind the front wheels. It might be easier to define legality if SCCA would publish the final rules.
