    Default Neo Sport Camera Announces Championship Prize Award

    Fremont California (September 10, 2013) – Neo Sport Camera has decided to award the previously announced sponsorship prize of $1000 in in its entirety to the overall US Formula 1000 Championship Driver for 2013.

    With double points being awarded at the Championship race drivers currently in points contention for the 2013 US Formula 1000 Driver’s Championship include US Formula 1000 East Champion Lawrence Loshak, US Formula 1000 West Champion Lucian Pancea, along with series drivers Jose Gerardo, Glenn Cooper, and Alex Mayer.

    With dropped races accounted for current standing show Loshak with a 16 point lead over Glenn Cooper, with Pancea 17 points behind, Mayer 36 points in arrears, and Gerardo 37 points back.

    Points for each driver are calculated with their two worst place finishes as drops:

    Lawrence Loshak,165 points - (dropping 2 DNS at Virginia)
    Lucian Pancea, 162 points - (dropping DNS at Sonoma, and 14 at COTA)
    Jose Gerardo, 159 points - (dropping 15 and 16 points at Laguna)
    Glenn Cooper, 149 Points - (dropping DNS, DNF at Watkins Glenn)
    Alex Mayer, 129 Points - (dropping DNF at COTA and DNF at Virginia)

    The driver with the largest accumulated points total after championship race will be awarded the $1000 Neo Sport Camera cash prize as well as the driver’s trophy as US Formula 1000 Champion Driver for 2013.

    About US Formula 1000 Championship
    The US Formula 1000 Championship is comprised of three separate championships within one series run within the SCCA National program. Drivers compete in either the US Formula 1000 East or the US Formula 1000 West Championship. Those drivers are also eligible to compete for the overall US Formula 1000 Championship. US Formula 1000 cars are purpose-built high-performance Formula 1000 race cars and Formula 2000 converted race cars powered by 1000cc motorcycle engines, with top speeds in excess of 150 MPH.

    I thought Jose was podium at CoTA in one race?

    My bad. I didn't realize the standings on the US Formula 1000 site already had dropped the points for the 2 worst finishes. The points are much closer than I thought it was.

    PS corrected the points on the original posting.

    Even closer if you remember it will be double points at the finale. That means:

    1st: 44 points
    2nd: 38 points
    3rd: 34 points

    and so on....
