    Default New Sequential next year

    From Eformulacarnews:

Committed to the use of the current spec Elan chassis utilized by the Championship class in the USF2000 Championship, Anderson Promotions has announced the current car will continue for three more seasons (2014, 2015 and 2016).

The American built racer will, however, be upgraded next year with the introduction of a new gearbox. Commencing with the 2014 season-opener all the Championship Class cars will feature a Hewland JL 200 five-speed sequential gearbox.

Initial deliveries of the gearboxes and related components are expected prior to the end of the season, and the USF2000 Championship hopes to see some in use during early off-season testing.

Is that a newly designed gearbox?

Apparently it's a new casing for Hewland FTR internals. It is specifically designed to allow the existing suspension to bolt right up. The FTR can handle 240 ft-lbs of torque, so they should be able to un-restrict the Mazda MZR if they want.
