Congrats to SCCA for not issuing a full course yellow . They have ruined more races doing that. Made for a great race.

I guess we don't get post-race interviews with FB... would really love to hear about the pre-race eff-up from the Loshak camp.

    What a drive, holy crap.

The SCCA asked me to join the announcing team this year, but I just couldn't swing it. I'm hoping to be able to do it next year. They really need a guy who knows open wheel racing in the booth.

Good god - now they are talking about Loshak driving through the red light at the pit exit and that he could be penalized.

This is painful to listen to... someone give Pobst a microphone for crypes sake. You'd think these guys have never done this before.

Intermediates were definitely the correct choice for a race with drying conditions. Seems like someone else should have thought about that.

Way back in the day I carried all three, definitely when at the runoffs. A small price to pay considering the total cost of getting to & running at the runoffs.

That's why it's important during the season to run all wet sessions. I've seen lots of drivers not run in a wet practice or qually because they wouldn't be able to set any good times.

    Default Carry a grooving iron

For years we've always carried a grooving iron around with us, real quick way to crank out a nice set of intermediates.

Those that saw me do it at T-Hill a couple of years back know what it can get you.

    Default Commentators

I was so glad to see Lawrence win this one! Well deserved after being late to the grid. Congrats!

The commentators drove me insane! Seriously SCCA couldn't have potentially found someone who knew what they were talking about? I finally turned the sound off and guessed at what they were saying.

Again, congrats to Loshak for an awesome win.

I sent an e-mail to them to tell their commentators to read the rule book at some point in their careers.

They will be available for streaming any time you like on speedcasttv.com. Last year they had the full day streams up by the middle of the next week and had each individual race up in about two weeks time.

What a great call and drive! Lucky for us spectators Loshak started from the back. Would have been a bore if he started on pole. What a bunch of fun. Congrats to all.

full beast mode by LaLo. I was watching the track at the end of the previous race thinking intermediates was the way to go then saw his car and thought good call. Then chaos broke out. Great drive ! Now the SCCA police need to leave it the hell alone if what Randy Pobst said on the broadcast is true.

At this point with the officials, who knows. If the red light was on, then a rule was broken. However, if the pit official holding him in place waved him out, they may just ignore the light. However, if they want to see all hell break loose..................

Ya, I was thinking the same thing. Then again maybe it was all part of a plan, after all - winning from the back is much more impressive than just driving off and hiding. Maybe he noticed that everyone else was on full wets and waited until there was just enough time to change to intermediates & get back to the grid. The forgotten helmet & Hans wasn't part of the original plan but made the results even more impressive. Just sayin'!

The Dixon guys were hand grooving tires this morning. Brandon was watching the Speedcast broadcast of the sedan race preceeding his. Even on their last laps they were spraying in the kink, etc. So, Brandon gambled on wets. If another wave of rain would have come in, he might have been golden. That's racin'.

As I stated in a previous post here.....

"Loshak is a force to be reckoned with !"

He is one awesome driver and the FB race proved he was untouchable.

Not only did Lawrence win the FB SCCA National Championship, he also was the US Formula F1000 Series National Championship after today's SCCA event.

Today could very well be the biggest day in racing history for Lawrence Loshak.

    SCCA National Champ Class FB
US Formula F1000 Series National Champion
    SCCA National Champ Class HP

    All top honors.

Let's remember that Lawrence took allot of heat earlier in the season in the FB Class. Any doubts about his ability to drive either "open wheel" or closed wheel" race cars has been proven that he is truely one great race car driver.

Watching todays FB event was very exciting. Unfortunitely I missed his second championship run today.

    Default FB Race Images

Watched the race from T1 (outside). As the field exited pitout, I'm thinking, "where the heck is LL?" Oh well, just another 21st to 1st win I did hear 2nd hand that it was the 1st ever last to first win at a Runoffs. I do want to give a B-I-G thanks to John Ewert of R/A for giving me media credentials. As you can see, makes a big difference being closer to the action !!

So I'm guessing Glenn Cooper was the only one running a Kawasaki?

A little back story about Coop- When I was building my car in '09, I was talking to someone about Van Diemen parts(can't remember who). When I told him I was putting together an F1000 conversion, this guy says, "Oh yeah that really fast Italian driver races a VD conversion- what's his name? I reply, "Giancarlo Coopola?" Then this guy says "Yeah that's him! Boy that Italian dude is really fast!"

Well, I thought it was funny....

Loshak mentioned last night that due to the confusion he had no radio. About lap 3 his dash went blank. He shifted by ear and just kept chasing down the next car. He was not aware he had won when he crossed the line.

It's stories like this that make this class what it is. The diverse personalities, the cars all look different and the non spec nature of it.

Maybe it's just me but this class has something special going on that I haven't seen since the flat bottom Atlantic cars from the 70's.

Brett cool story about Coop, made me laugh.
