    Default Watkins Glen!

The final regular season race weekend of the US Formula 1000 Championship East is coming up! Rounds 9 and 10 will be held at Watkins Glen International in New York on July 5-7. These two races will determine the US Formula 1000 Championship East champion!
Current point totals show Glenn Cooper with a 26 point lead over Lawrence Loshak. However, the championship will be decided using each driver’s best 8 finishes. Assuming that both Cooper and Loshak attend the final weekend and drop Cooper’s two lowest events, Loshak actually has a one point lead over Cooper, and Alex Mayer is 27 points out of first place. Depending on the outcome of the Watkins Glen races, the championship could come down to the wire!

    Current points standings: http://www.usf1000.com/Standings.html

Registration for Watkins Glen is now open!

Did F1000 race there last year? I'm wondering who was fast there in the past.

If my Google-fu is accurate, Glenn Cooper owns the long course record of 1:48.713.

It's still early in the 2013 US Formula F1000 Championship Series, but sure looks like Glenn Cooper is headed for the 2013 US Formula F1000 National Championship win overall. With a couple of wins at Watkins Glen he appears untouchable in the standings.

Good luck Mr. Glenn Cooper, you're one dedicated owner/driver to the F1000 Class.

Yes, but, Coop's arch nemesis, Jeremy Hill, will be there. I know those two guys hate each other.

Yeah, I know that's not true, but I'm pretty sure both are going there planning to win. Maybe some other guys, too.

Huh,what?? Hill and CoopSaki dont get along? If Hill sharpens up the handling in the Photon I say yes to a good scrap.

whats the story behind those two, i 'll look in the archives here i dont know, racing with Jeremy has been a pleasure and very educational.

    Default Russell McBride!

You get up to your room right now, and wait for your father to get home, young man!

(Dude grows a Taliban worthy beard and goes all.. Taliban-y!!)

Yeah, me n' Germy go back a few, all the way to my first FB ARRC race in '08, paddock begging for a used and abused tripod joint.

We've had very little in the way of race long battles unfortunately, so hoping to change that up for WGI '13!

When the two of us get together it's all Can-Am Challenge stuff!

Juan, don't pay me no mind. I was just joshing, stirring the pot, trying to make waves. Both of those guys are super competitive, but at the same time friendly, helpful, etc.

I agree with you. I think those two guys at The Glen = an epic battle.

I think the gear 15/45-46 would work, I have the same car you have, if its a Novak, that's a safe start

Now it gets very interesting at Watkins Glen.......Lawrence Loshak enters the race.

Let's hope we have live timing on next weeks events. This should be a real firecracker of a race weekend.

    Default Diaper Duty!

Hate that I'm missing out on the fun but we delivered our baby girl, Emily, on Wednesday morning. At 6:03am, I would have been starting the second half of the trek to WGI. Good luck everyone and I'm fairly certain I'll see you all at the runoffs. Keep the updates coming. I need something to read during nap time.

After round 9, Glenn Cooper has an 8 point lead over Lawrence Loshak. However, the US Formula 1000 Championship East will be decided with each driver's best 8 finishes. So if one were to drop Cooper's worst two finishes (including today), Loshak actually has a 5 point lead (including the 2 points for tomorrow's pole).

The Championship will be decided tomorrow!

The final grid for tomorrow's race:
    1. Lawrence Loshak 1:48.172
    2. Jeremy Hill 1:49.487
    3. Jason Slahor 1:51.248
    4. Alex Mayer 1:51.469
    5. Glenn Cooper 1:52.113
    6. Jason Bell 1:53.639
    7. Nicho Vardis 1:54.946
    8. Richard Franklin 2:00.878

I'm happy for Lawrence and the JDR guys. You like to see drivers and designers/builders rewarded for their talent and hard work.

I can't help but feel bad for Glenn Cooper. That guy can drive (we all know that), and he really put a lot of effort into his 2013 season. It was pretty impressive that he was leading the series before the Glen. I think we all agree the RFR isn't the best package, and Glenn decided to take the risk of trying the Kawasaki engine mid-year (I assume to improve on top end speed). Then, after all that, towing to The Glen and two DNF's, well, that seems like unjust punishment.

That's racing. We all know there are a lot of disappointments in racing.

Earlier this year JRO gave me a good laugh with something he said. I think it will stick with me for years. It makes me chuckle whenever I think of it. At Rd ATL, when he had more bad luck after leading a race, he said, "Well, you know why they call it Racing". (I replied, No, why?). "Because M*th*r F*ck*r was already taken!" :-)
