Is it true the Runoffs could be at Laguna Seca in 2014?

I heard a reliable source last weekend say it would be on the "West Coast" for sure but no mention of the track.

Depends on the weekend/time of day. They get something like 6-10 days a year of no sound restriction and usually groups get staggered with muffled SRF's and the quieter sedans early in the day and the louder groups in the midday. I believe 101 (maybe its 103?) is the norm. Its not that big of a deal for most cars to get to that number. And speaking as someone who has to listen to loud-ass racecars constantly, I actually prefer mufflers. Especially as the current crop of Coast Fab, Quiet Horsepower, or Hushpower brand mufflers get the sound down without any power loss. I run a muffler all the time, even when its not required. But I don't think noise will be the reason most east coasters don't make the trip...

Being quieter than everybody else on the track can certainly have it's advantages

Huh, Last weekend at the June Sprints, I heard from a very reliable source that 2014 would be at Nelson Ledges.

This thread reminds me that one BoD member posted on another forum that we should expect to see "the rest of the story" on the 20th in Fastrack. Anybody know when it might actually hit the press ("the 20th" being less than rigorously define)?

    Default Conspiracy Theory

Floating a rumor that the Run Offs were moving to the West Coast next year sure would be a good way to drive up entries for this year at Road America!

I would like to object in the strongest possible terms to any notion that the SCCA would in anyway stoop to such a crass method of negative marketing in order to enhance revenue- to suggest such a self-preservation activity would call upon very creative thinking, advance planning and subtle execution and all in the dark.... how dare all of you to even think that was the motive ...

July Fastrack doesn't specify a track, but says the new Runoffs model will move it each year with a West Coast venue every 3-4 years.

If you fold it up like a paper airplane, wet the left half with goats milk, hold it up to the southern sun at approximately 6:13pm it will reveal the runoffs schedule.

Only if they can figure out how to deal with a ton of entries and crew, and clear on-track incidents a LOT faster.

The parking lot at COTA is a great idea. EZ access thru the tunnel. A little hustle on car retrieval is in order
