    Default What is this?

I hope I'm not one of those guys that posts a question a few days after it has been discussed to death but what is a Gen 3 SRF?
See the bottom of the results:

I heard it on Sunday but was too tired/lazy to walk over to the track to see what sounded so different from the rest of the SRFs.

The spec racers are going through their next engine change starting in 2015 (I think). The new motor if I remember right is a 1.6l. Ford duratech. From what I hear they will be a little quicker. Gen 3 is what enterprises is calling the car.

Gen 3 SRF is the same car with a new drive train from a Ford Fiesta. Engine is 50-60 pounds lighter, about 15 more horsepower and a flatter torque curve.

Definitely the next generation of the Spec Racer. There is a separate forum for the new engine on the Spec Racer page

The lower mass engine change could make that car so much better! That car is a tank with the current engine.

    Sounds awesome, too.

Very inviting, to say the least.
