Default Formula Cars welcomed at NY Safety Track

If any of the formula car drivers want to try out a new track in NY, come to the NY Safety track on June 22 & 23. The track looks challenging and the management is friendly. There promises to be plenty of track-time, so come sort out your racecar and learn a new track.
IF you travel on Route 28 to get to the track, just beware of the many speed traps on that route.

    Default Challenging course

The NY Safety Track appears to be a throw back to the days when a driver had to earn hs finishing position; upgrades, downgrades and blind turns and 18 turns altogether it has all the challenges to seperate the good from the not-so-good drivers. I hope to see many formula car racers at this event.

    Default Total elev. change

Mikey; I will know after this event if that 450 foot of elev. change is in one drop or a combined total of 7 different elev. changes. I will let all know after the races.

By the track map info I saw on their facebook it's 150' of change. 450 is likely adding up and downs over the length of the course.

Early video of two SRFs just cruising while they still were doing landscaping work along track edge did make it look like it really gives that country road over the river and through the woods to grandma's house feel though.

    Default NY safety track

It looks like a very challenging track, but after viewing the video, I'd have some real reservations about the woods and trees being so close to the racing surface.
Maybe I have the wrong perspective and the distance is greater then it seems.
It may be possible that since this was in the construction phase things will change, but usually cutting down large amounts of trees will get the state environmental agency interested.
It may be they need to stay to help keep noise down near a residental area.
At any rate, it doesn't look like you want to take an off road excursion.

so how did this event go? I'm in contact with the track about maybe making it my temporary "home" track while I attend the Naval War College.. if I can get in 6-8 days on track between August to early November then it would be worth trailering my FE up there. I'd love to see video from one of your cars that ran last weekend.

    cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Mikey,
The event went smoothly, the track management are awesome to work with
The track is still a work in progress and does need some curbing installing as well as
Some further barrier work and grading doing, but all in all the drivers loved the track
And we will definitely be going back in the near future

cool.. I have made plans to spend a number of weekends out there while I am up in the NE area. If you'll allow my FE on track with your FRCCA spec cars, then I'll be there, pending school schedule. I watched a little bit of video from your last weekend there, but it looked like somebody had to record a recording to post on youtube, so quality was low. Would love to see some higher resolution video so I can study the track! CCW is the only direction I've seen so far.

right now I plan to be there for as many of the member track days as I can, AUG-OCT.

Better to have raced for a day...
than been a spectator for life!
