    Default Montreal support race(s) results

    Many thanks Alouette 61 !

It's a pity we have to get info like this via a US resource. Both FF and CTCC sites are idle covering their biggest event. Duh. The GP F1 event site has nothing I can find either.

No idea. And stat-timing is not working right now. From a tweet I saw it looks like he's starting in front though

    Default After-Action Report

    Thank you.

The following report is from one fairly narrow perspective; no doubt others could offer a grander view of a very grand weekend.

Going out straight to green for the sole qualifying session as my first eyeball view (other than the golf cart tour) of the track was intimidating enough, and damp conditions didn't help this Arizona boy. A hundred or so laps on YouTube and rFactor helped a lot in remembering where to go right and left, but there are camber subtleties to be learned and there are curbs to use and curbs to avoid. And a straight long enough to break out a magazine to pass the time.

I was just starting to get the hang of things when Lap 6 got interesting. On the run down to Corner 3 Patrick Sweeney began to come by me on the inside and we were briefly wheel-to-wheel by only a few milimeters. I was already about to lift for the braking zone and so slowed a bit more to let him slot onto the line, getting a vague sense there was somebody else coming up, possibly further over to his right. As his front tire passed mine he also slowed to avoid the spinning/flying Duncan Murdoch and then suddenly popped further over so I could watch his left rear ride over my right front, launching him into a pretty cool spin. I lost little time to the incident but only learned later he'd been bumped by another driver neither of us could identify. As the track dried I was able to get a few things figured out and even got a half-decent final lap time even with a seriously bent front trailing arm with black tire marks all over it.

Jens worked miracles with his trailer jack to straighten the suspension piece and I was in a good position for Saturday's race grid, with only a few faster cars behind me. Unfortunately, on the second lap I got a hair off the dry line exiting the Senna curve and got pretty far sideways. It's doubtful I could have completely saved the slide but would have at least stayed on the black stuff had not (I'm told) the same guy who bumped Patrick came flying by and bashed my nose nearly off. Thank you to the workers down there, as well as the ones on the Turn 3 escape road who were able to remove the dragging wreck of my beautiful nose so I could toddle around to the pits where I parked it. The Jumbotron let me watch a terrific battle for P1 between Thomas McGregor and Jack Mitchel, Jr. that wasn't settled until the final chicane.

Turns out my damage was strictly fiberglass, so another miracle with some epoxy and a whole lot of tape got me back on the grid for Sunday. Avoided the first-lap carnage, got to race my brother and had a wonderful time but I guess I wasn't sure Jens had removed the magnets that seemed to draw other cars to me (the particular culprit I'm told had finally done unfixable things to his own car on Saturday). My best time was nearly two seconds off what I had done in variable conditions with a bent suspension. Ah, well. Montreal itself is about as great a place as you could find to have the world come for a party.

What tires are they using these days for this series? I loved racing there and Trois Rivieres.

Default I would contact David Clubine

Britain West (owned by David) has a number of cars and good service at the track. having done the trip to Montreal twice with F1, once with champcar and once with Nascar, I would put it on your list of tracks to run at. Good challenge, lots of FF's and a wonderful city to race in

    Default More options

Agreed, Brian Graham comes to mind as well as some of the local Quebec teams. There seemed to be several outfits renting rides at the events I attended

I am not sure if my post is clear, I was not renting when I was there, I used my own car/team.

Look closely and you can see what miracles can be achieved with matching colors of tape. The white is mostly invisible.

That's Marshal , one "L" Had me worried for a minute. A sad thing indeed, for some reason, it seems that I forget the risk workers take for low or no pay and no glory.
