Welcome to the F1000 fold and nice color choice! Of course, I'm biased....
When's the first race?
Have they improved the stock fiberglass OEM finish of the Stohr body panels since the first cars? The ones I remember seeing in person a few years ago were maybe the worst gelcoat laid-up fiberglass body panels I have ever seen. I recall John Stecher saying that two different body shops wouldn't touch his car because of the labor involved in getting it to even remotely paintable. He left his gelcoat black.
They are such pretty cars to begin with, I'm guessing guys are getting better finish gelcoats from Stohr at this point, no?
I believe so from what I've seen of my car. All the gel coat is done in house so they must have improved. I'm relatively new so I can't Really compare. I can say the body looks really good and the paint came out great.
Well the first race will be the June Sprints at Road America I'm looking forward to it ! I will be in the car prior at PBIR for two days prior. Trying to squeeze a lot in before the June sprints. A lot to get ready in a short time. I won't actually have the car in FL until June 2 as it is having the data system installed at Veracity Racing in CA now.
Won't have a lot of time to get the car ready for June Sprints to compete with the citation on the drag strips. But we will try. Right now trying to sort my rig situation out as they are behind as well lol.
Doug -
Fit and finish is outstanding - definitely a strong point of the Stohr cars.
There's no gel coat at all on the bodywork since around 2007 or so - it's pre-preg fiberglass. Takes a bit of work to get the surface prepared for paint because there is no gel coat, but as you can see, the results come out quite nice, as well as very strong and light.
