Default US Formula 1000 Festival at Road Atlanta!

Rounds 5 and 6 of the US Formula 1000 Championship East are next on the schedule! The next two races are the US Formula 1000 Festival at Road Atlanta, May 18-19. At this event, Formula 1000 will not only be part of group 2a (wings and things) but also group 5 which will be Formula 1000 ONLY! Both races will count in the US Formula 1000 Championship East, towards SCCA national points, and the all-important Runoffs invitation.
In addition to having a Formula 1000-only run group, there will be several other exciting features of this event:

    • Atlanta Region will providing reserved paddock space for the US Formula 1000 Championship. To help them, we need to provide the size and configuration of your rig and paddock set-up (such as canopy size). If you plan to attend, please send a message to me providing that information.
    • Live timing will be provided by the Atlanta Region. Follow the action here: http://livetiming.net/scca/ars/

You can register for the race here:

    http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...A#.UXRaM8rheSoSo

Note, when registering for this race, you will need to check the boxes for both “F1000 Tour Race” AND “National Races” (under “National and/or Regional” check box). Registration for the National/Regional race is $325 and registration for the F1000 race is an additional $250. You must do BOTH, or just the National race. You can’t register for just the F1000 race.
Your credit card will not be charged until after the event.

    US Formula 1000 Festival Schedule:

    Friday May 17th
    Road Atlanta Test Day

    Saturday May 18th
    9:35 = 25 minutes Qualify 1 for Sunday race
    11:20 = 25 minutes Qualify 1 for Saturday race (Formula 1000 only)
    2:05 = 20 minutes Qualify 2 for Sunday race
    4:35pm = 18 lap US Formula 1000 East Race (Formula 1000 only)

    Sunday May 19th
    1:10 = 18 lap National Race
Notice that all times are approximate so pay close attention to the PA and on-track activities.

If you plan to be a part of the US Formula 1000 Championship this year and haven’t registered for the series, go here: http://www.usf1000.com/RegForm.html

I'm looking forward to this. I hope there will be a good turnout, like you've been seeing at 2013 F1000 races thus far. I have some great memories of great F1000 battles at Road Atlanta ARRC races.

The last time I drove Road Atlanta was the very first F1000 Championship during the ARRC in 2007. We had 13 cars on the grid for that race and I really hope we can surpass that next month!

This event is only 3 weeks away so get your registration in soon! We need 15 cars to break even on this little experiment. Keep in mind that your credit card will not be charged until after the event. No risk.

    Default F1000 Championship Series/Road Atlanta F1000 Festival

Just entered for Road Atlanta after having to cancel VIR at the last minute.

I did not like paying the cancellation fees VIR charges for cancelled test day and cancelled weekend fee charged by the region. VIR charged me a 50 percent cancellation fee for the $325 test day until such time I called them to discuss the situation. It was reduced to $25 Thank You. That kind of action by regions/tracks will make entrants start waiting until the last minute to enter. Then it will stress the registrars with end loading of entries. I don't mind paying to cover transactional fees and an effort donation, but we are already paying significant entry fees to cover the cost of doing business I hope.

Road Atlanta does NOT charge for cancellations so enter early.

I think you meant that Atlanta Region does *NOT* charge for cancellations... at least as far as I know. Since there is no Pre-registration for the test day, they don't charge for cancellations either .

In addition to Atlanta Region being customer-friendly with their payment options, Road Atlanta allows partial test days with the fee pro-rated based on how many sessions are left when you sign up.

I hope you made a REQUEST. IIRC, the supps said you HAD to make a written request before .. some time during the weekend... in order to get it. That's not what I call 'customer friendly' and I hope they aren't really sticking to that.

We're up to 7 cars with only 2 weeks to go. Who else is going that hasn't registered yet?
    Vardis?
    Scarallo?
    Autiello?
    Pierce?
    Ortiz?
    Novak?

I know JRO is thrashing to fix his damage from VIR. What about Slahor and Thielmann?

I don't suppose we could coerce the Seabrooks into making the trip?

What about the Florida contingent: Wald? Beattie? Lane? JohnPaul?

    Who am I missing?

Here's who is registered so far:

I may be there if I can get it together in time (and still have money). I doubt any of the other Florida "contingents" will make it. I haven't been able to get Wald and Beattie to come to south Florida let alone Atlanta. Although if any of them do want to go I can get a large enough trailer for 2 and split traveling costs.....just throwin it out there....

Thanks Glenn but I was able to slap an engine together. The car is split and cleaned up but I need to still do a bunch of crap. I need to get a harness and it off to get prepped. I also need to get my fire bottle recharged, make new oil lines, oil cooler....blah, blah, blah

Thanks for the offer JP. I would love to go but I have family commitments that weekend that I can't back out of. Besides, I'm getting my racing "fix" this weekend at Daytona.

    Thanks,

This race is going to have:

    -Road Atlanta

    -Atlanta region SCCA running things

    -Beauchamp involved in running things

-Double race weekend with one race being a bonus race for F1000 with NO! mixed class racing

This is pretty likely to be the best weekend for F1000 this year. Period. Do whatever it takes to get there. Mike and the Atlanta region have really come through for F1000. Please help prove to them that it is worth it.

In all my surveys and talking to F1000 guys over the years, the two things everyone wants most are large fields and a single run group. The one race this year that offers a single run group looks to have the smallest field so I'm a little confused. I know a few people are working feverishly to make it but I hope more people will put their money where their mouth is.

I'll most likely be there. JR is trying to get there. Pierce is in and Fernando Ortiz told me at VIR he was going to Atlanta so if everyone can get it together it'll be 11. texting Wald, trying to guilt him into coming as I write this. Anyone know how to get in touch with Jason Bell or John Hudak down here in Fl.? Anyone know if Dempsey is going to Atlanta?

Pierce and Ortiz need to register and get their paddock requirements to me if they want to have a reserved spot.
Bell's car will be a few days too late, unless Wayne works a miracle. June Sprints for sure.

    Default F1 @ Road Atlanta

The Slahors will be there per Gary. That makes 11 entries for sure with 6 different chassis being reprsented. A Citation entry would make it 7 makes being represented.

I look forward to getting back to Road Atlanta. Last time I ran RA was in 2011 in a DSR.

What a great track and Thanks to Road Atlanta staff and Mike B and the F1000 Championship Series for allocating paddock space and other activities planned for the F1000 Festival.

F1000 has a lot of interest, many chassis being represented, and many top level drivers particpating. That is why I chose F1000 and there are more drivers considering a move over that has this class getting a lot of traction and potential for future growth.

Online Registration for the US Formula 1000 Festival at Road Atlanta CLOSES in 7 days!

    http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...A#.UXRaM8rheSoSo

Atlanta Region will still take last minute entries at the track. HOWEVER, if you want a reserved paddock space with the rest of the US Formula 1000 teams, you need to register online before May 13. There’s simply no way that the region can hold a reserved spot for someone that MIGHT be at the race.

After you register, I need to know the size and configuration of your rig/paddock spot. Please send an e-mail to me providing the rough space your truck/trailer/canopy will take up. If I don’t get your information you may be paddocked alone.

AGAIN, Atlanta region will NOT charge your credit card until after the event so if you have to cancel, you will NOT be charged!

You can still enter, of course, but you likely won't be able to join the rest of the US Formula 1000 teams in the reserved paddock.
So why would you want to race at Road Atlanta this weekend?

    1. F1000 will have two races, one of which is F1000-only! No other classes to contend with!
    2. Points from both races will count toward the US Formula 1000 Championship and qualification for the Runoffs!
    3. Saturday evening meet and greet party in the US Formula 1000 paddock, featuring dinner courtesy of the series and lots of door prizes!
    4. It's Road Atlanta! And the weekend is run by the Atlanta Region!
    5. Stand alone race!

Even if you can't race, please stop by to meet the US Formula 1000 drivers, crew, and officials.
    See everyone in Atlanta!
