    Default Simple curiousity ---

Approximately how much does the F600 community spend on tires per racing weekend (in ball-park terms)?

    Thanks,

    Chris Crowe

Chris, most guys are getting at least 2 weekends on tires including test days.

In fact, Brian's F500 lap record at Grattan was set on tires with 2 weekends and 2 test days on them.

A set runs around $650. My personal limit is around 12 heat cycles (i.e. 2 doubles + one 4 session test day). If it has been cold out I will go a few more cycles on them. If it has been hot summer racing, then I replace them after 12. That being said, Clint buys my take offs and then proceeds to beat me with them.

    Default That's fantastic ---

-- and think somewhere herein lies salvation for a lot of categories on the wane. Tire costs simply put things out of reach for so many folks who'd love to be involved.

F/600 seems to get around the problem -- and without mandate. Very cool category. Good luck with the new machine, Jay.

Because Clint is very comfortable driving the F600 sideways around corners and will run the tires down to the cords showing before he pulls them off for another set of Ross' 1/2 worn down take-offs. Jack Walbran still will come by in the paddock and give Clint his take-offs.
