    Default Help identifying NOS Ford DORY gaskets

    We've been clearing out a workshop full of old Vee, Atlantic, F5000, Indy and Ferrari parts and came across a couple of NOS Ford gasket sets in their original packaging.

    There are two silver finish head gaskets in Ford paper envelopes marked DORY-6051 A Gasket S2

    There is also a sump gasket kit consisting of two cork strips, one large and one small crankshaft rubber oilseals and a copper sump plug washer. It is marked DORY-6781 Oil Pan Gasket Set S2

    Both were made in the UK and we suspect they are gaskets for a 701m or similar Atlantic block.

    Any ideas on what they are for so we can find the right home for them?

    Thanks

    They are similar to Lotus Twin Cam or Cossie BD series older styles.

    Below website details Ford part number nomenclature:
    http://www.hammar.dyndns.org/~djhamma/partnumb.htm#Ford

    D= 1970's
    0=zero year or 1970
    R= Ford of Europe
    Y= Lincoln-Mercury service replacement part

    6015= group number for engine

    A= engineering revision letter; A is the first generation, B second, etc.

    Default Thank you

    Thanks for such quick and comprehensive replies. Looking around on some of the UK 1600 Ford block specialist sites, the bottom end gasket set looks like its from a 711m block. The rubber crankshaft seals seem to indicate that and my guess is that 6781 is the sump pan part range in Ford's part numbering plan.

    We thought that the head gasket could be a similar 711m 1600cc product, but I guess I'll need to measure the head gasket thickness and combustion chamber bore to be sure. 6015 is the generic casting number for the Kent block, and BA is 1600cc while AA was 1300cc. I think Ford varied the capacity with a different bore size in the same block.

    Once again, many thanks
