Default Formula 600 Challenge Series Revises Schedule

The Formula 600 Challenge Series announces a track revision for The Formula 600 Challenge pro races.

Due to the cancellation of the May 4-5 Kansas Motor Speedway Rational the series has moved its first race to Heartland Park, Topeka, June 1-2, 2013, Double Rational.

Heartland Park, Topeka, Kansas, June 1-2, 2013
Watkins Glen International, Watkins Glen, New York, July 20-21, 2013
Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham, Alabama, August 31-Sept. 1, 2013
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington, Ohio, October 5-6, 2013
Road Atlanta, Braselton, Georgia, November 1-3, 2013

The Formula 600 Challenge Series was developed to help promote an affordable open wheel formula car to showcase talent without large financial race budgets. The Formula 600 open wheel cars use a 600cc motorcycle engine and a 6 speed sequential drive chain revving up to 13,000 rpm with speeds in excess of 135 mph. The sound of these F600's is likened to a F1 car.

The purse provided for each race will comprise of cash and prize awards for the top finishers, along with tow fund payments.

    Default Watkins Glen event

Where would be the best place to find details re: the July 20-21st event at The Glen?

Thinking of making the drive from S.W. Ontario.

    Thanks,
    D

Here is a link to the SCCA schedule for the weekend. We will be in group 2 with the F500's.

    Default thanks

    Thanks for the link.

We have a couple of minor things to sort out first, but hoping to come, and bring this to run in FS:

We have an event the following weekend at Canadian Tire Mosport Park (Mosport), where we currently sit in first in F4.

Would love to check out the F6 field! Thinking about the possibility of making a chassis the would be eligible to run F6 in SCCA, and F4 in Ontario--just change the nose and bolt on/unbolt the rear wing.

The F4 rules are a tad wide open compared to F6:
    1) max displacement 750cc
    2) minimum weight with driver: 825lbs.

    Cheers,
    Devin

    Devin,
Once you read our class rules I don't suspect that you can do what you hope but I am not familiar with your class rules so it might work. For cost restricting, we have a straight rear axle, rubber puck suspension, specified sidepods, 80" WB and 55" max overall width which are the big differences that I can think of at this moment.
We look forward to having you hang out with us from Friday thru Sunday.

    Yes Jim, you are right.
Actually reading the rules, and not skimming them helps.
F5 & F6 cars are eligible to fun F4 (we have some "rule exceptions" based on engine displacement, age, # valves, etc.), but would not be front runners.
To build a car to run both would be a compromise, and to be competitive in one class, it would not be competitive in the other.
    Thanks,
    D

    Devin,
We believe that with the cost restrictions F600 will be the best bang for the buck.
We can rent you one - www.formula600racing.com and have you compete in our money series - www.theformula600challenge.com where the winnings help pay for the car rent, etc.

    Jim
