Default US Formula 1000 Championship Announces Points Structure

Fremont, California/Green Bay, Wisconsin ? (Jan 29, 2012) - The US Formula 1000 Championship has announced its point structure for 2013. The point structure is planned to be similar to the points payout used in the SCCA Majors Races with drivers earning points based on finishing positions from 1st down to 20th place. The US Formula 1000 Championship will differ from the SCCA Majors in two ways: It will also award two additional points for each pole position, and the September season finale at Road America will be worth double points.

The US Formula 1000 East and West Championships will each consist of five double race events (10 total) with an additional race added to determine the overall US Formula 1000 Championship. Drivers competing for either the US Formula 1000 East Championship or the US Formula 1000 West Championship will count their best 8 results from their series 10 races to determine the East or West driver's champion.

For the nationwide US Formula 1000 Championship, drivers will count their best 8 results from their respective championships, then add the double points for their finish in the Championship race (Race 11) to determine their total season points to decide the overall US Formula 1000 Driver's Champion. In the event of a points tie the champion will be determined by the driver with the maximum number of wins, then most second place finishes, most third place finishes, 4th, 5th, etc. until a champion is determined. The driver winning the overall US Formula 1000 championship must attend and take the green flag in the championship race (Race 11).

US Formula 1000 Championship Point Structure:

The new US Formula 1000 Championship website should be up this weekend.

It's taken longer than we thought but we are getting very close now.

    Very nice

Thanks Mike, Nicholas and Thomas for your hard work to salvage the class from last years F1000 Champ fraudulent debacle. I'm sure this class is going to turn into one of the most popular in SCCA.

    Thanks again!

While the site is currently "live" we still have quite a bit of work to do including some tweaks to the main page. There is quite a lot done that we can't show just yet. Just the main page is active right now.

One of things thats going to be lacking some content until we get our first race completed are results and standings. The template for those pages are finished but we might not make them "live" until after COTA. We also will have sidebars with that information readily avalible on the main page that might not be live until then either. The website is planned out but until we do some races it might look a little barren until then.
