Some of the "race prep" that is needed may be to install a shifter arm in the rear cover...

Is it a 1990 car or 89 car
the 88 89 cars where definatly F3 based cars using the top half of F3 monocoque with different lower half to get the ground effect floor/ tunnels on
Car is using the reynard F3 gearbox and uprights

When did Reynard FA car use FTFG gears?
was that the 92 and 93H cars

Certainly a nice looking car aside from the funky paint job. BUT, will a larger (6'1" x 210) driver fit and are parts available for it ? I am lookiing for something for vintage racing.

In one pic the shifter rod is "attached", in the other pics it is present, just not connected.

Also noticed the engine is on carbs.

Just out of curiosity, in which vintage clubs is this car eligible?

I had a 6'3" or so and ever bit of 250lb driver get in a 90 reynard with no problem, thats why he bought it. He was able to drive it much easier then the RT4 he had previously and as such went much quicker.....till he blew the motor to high hell. then he bought 2 new Reynards a 92 and a 93. Guy was a car buyer. I ended up advising the the guy a few years a go who bought the 90 we had has it was easy to recognise since it still had my vinyl on it. they arent as bad as everyone claims when used as club or vintage cars.

Originally the car would fit a 6' driver. I had the roll bar remade to take a 6'4" (in helmet) driver. Width is not an issue. The gearbox uses some F3A parts and Mark 5 gears. The firsts and CWPs are hard to find and expensive when needed (Kevan may have some) and the box is the most fragile part as the CWPs are short-lived due to gearbox flexing caused by the shock mountings. This was somewhat cured by the ally gearboxes that were used. One of these cars has an ally box, the other I'm not sure.

Sorry you don't like the paint job. We thought they were very "period." Car is quite a bit more difficult to drive (quickly) than the Ralts and is much more like a go-kart. Parts are not that available on this side of the pond and any major damage will require fabrication. Some bits are easy to work on - others a PITA due to the carbon tub.

Fun car but not for the faint of heart as it takes a high commitment level to get the most out of it.

This one was a museum find. I bought it from the Collier Museum as a total basket case.

Default Someone knows marketing! Beats out-of-focus garage pics!

    Gents,

THAT is how to market and sell a racecar. Great job of presentation and the You-Tube video was an added treat.

    Good luck with the sale.

OT, those ARB's look just like the ones on my old 87SF :-)

    Default 90-H Reynard

I have had two of these cars, they are fun, have a fairly narrow set up window sweet spot, and as Charles said requires a lot of driver envolvement.

They are quick when driven hard and large attachments are required to drive them in the rain.

We have tunnel and nose cone molds, and most of the 90-H Hass parts inventory that Mike Demski had.

Hope it finds a home they are fun

Thanks for all the input guys. I REALLY appreciate it ! I was a bit confused by the suspension remarks, then finally realized it's a pushrod car. That was in vogue in the mid to late 80's. I'll bet the newer ones went to pull rod ? Unless I can buy it cheap I think I'm going to pass. There are many things I like about it, BUT. I'll keep looking. The Swift 008 intrigues me.

    Hi Guys,

I won this auction on Ebay and was trawling for information on the car when I came across this site. Not sure why the CL ad is still up maybe as the owner was selling a second car too.

It's taken a while to sort out shipping, but the car is finally on a truck down to Reno, NV, should be here tomorrow.

Apparently the gearbox internals require re-installing, but I'm assured they are all there, we'll see. The engine is a zero hours Loyning 4AGE and I'd read cost for an engine was ~$15K so thought the car was reasonably priced considering.

I'll run it in local SCCA but we have small region and not too great a condition track (Reno-Fernley), so looking to get into SVRA West.

Julian, don't overlook San Francisco Region. We're just down the hill from you and have a dozen races a year at three great tracks: Thunderhill, Sonoma and Laguna Seca. Good luck with the car...I'm looking forward to seeing it and you.

    Stan,

You are so right, I should get over the hill more. I've run Thunderhill a couple times with the Shelby Club and have friends in Sacramento that head to T-Hill or Sonoma at every opportunity.

    Charlie, you have e-mail.

    Thanks,
    Julian
