    Default Austin Bombshell

I don't know if any of you have been following the mess down in Austin over the last 4 days, but basically, COTA cancelled ALL events and activities other than the BIG 4 ....Moto GP, Daytona Prototype and 2 others.
There was so much flack and angry comments on their website, and it now seems that COTA have reversed most of their decision. I think that the SCCA contract will be honored, but certainly, COTA wants to limit the number of cars on the circuit at any one time. So for this reason especially, it is important that everyone in the F1000 community gets their entry in as soon as registration opens.
If there are enough entries, it might be enough reason for us to have our own race, or maybe a split start with another class of comparable speed.

    Default More news

Still very vague....they don't say which events they would permission to, but I wonder if they are just talking about
Grand-Am, MotoGP, V8 Supercars, and Formula One ?

Circuit of the Americas agrees to honor all track rentals for 2013

    Published on December 22, 2012

LAT Photographic - COTA said it will honor all rental agreements made for 2013.

After publically saying that it was canceling four non-racing events in 2013, the Circuit of the Americas is apparently pulling a 180.
On Saturday, Julie Loignon, a spokesperson for COTA, addressed rumors of the cancellations, saying that COTA had reached out to four driving school events to tell their organizers that they would not be able to host their events. She said full refunds would be given.
However, after an afternoon of being lambasted on Twitter, COTA has had a change of heart.
Early Saturday evening, Lognon said that COTA had reconsidered, and would honor all previous commitments.
?We are moving ahead with these agreements and contacting clients so they can share this information with their members and customers,? she said. ?The executed rental agreements will limit the number of vehicles we have on track at any given time to ensure a fun and safe experience for participants, including any amateur drivers who will be participating. We regret the confusion that was caused as we worked through these issues with our clients and look forward to providing a one-of-a-kind experience to auto enthusiasts coming to Circuit of the Americas through our track rental program.?

the number of "on-track" cars being limited by Cota's contract may filter the amount of schools and driving organizations interested in going there.

Say the contract states that no more than 30 cars on track for "Non-Professional"timed events. That would make it a whole different ballgame for organizations like scca, pca and nasa to have their traditional entries at bigger events. Be interesting to see how this unfolds over the years and how accessible the track will be.

I hope the number is more like 45 cars on track, does anyone know the number of cars on Cota track. SCCA has their own formula, something like 25 cars per mile of race track, might be wrong here.
