Default US Formula 1000 Championship Announced for 2013

    For Immediate Release:

The Formula 1000 National Championship and the F1000 Pro Series have joined forces to form a new nationwide F1000 championship. Beginning in 2013, the combined series will be called The US Formula 1000 Championship. The US Formula 1000 Championship will consist of two independently run championships that will be called the US Formula 1000 Championship East and US Formula 1000 Championship West, respectively. Together they will combine to form the US Formula 1000 Championship.

The format for the US Formula 1000 championship calls for each of the championship series (East and West) to run an equal number of events independently of each other as part of the SCCA SafeRacer national racing program, with points to be awarded based on in-class finishing positions at each event. Each series will crown a separate US Formula 1000 East and US Formula 1000 West Champion with an overall US Formula 1000 Champion decided at the SCCA National Runoffs in September at Road America.

The schedules for the East and West Championship are currently being finalized but both championship series will kick off the new Championship with an East vs. West Shootout race at the SCCA national event at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas on March 7-9, 2013.

    About US Formula 1000 Championship-East:
The F1000 National Championship was founded in 2007 and has run continuously since then, crowning six national champions, most recently the 2012 Champion Brandon Dixon. The first three champions were crowned at the American Road Race of Champions in November at Road Atlanta before the Championship became a nationwide points race with the finale taking place at the SCCA Runoffs at Road America. For more information on the US Formula 1000 Championship series go to: http://www.formula1000.com/

    About US Formula 1000 Championship-West:
The F1000 Pro Series was founded in 2009 and has organized more than 30 races in its three year history. Its first race was in January 2010 at Phoenix International Raceway, won by Phil DeLaO in a Phoenix Raceworks F1000. There have been three F1000 Pro Series Driver Champions with the most recent being Lucian Pancea of Bellevue, Washington. For more information on the F1000 Pro Series go to: http://www.f1000proseries.com.

A new website (USf1000.com) is under construction for the 2013 nationwide joint US Formula 1000 championship that will host information for both the US Formula 1000 East and US Formula 1000 West Championship series.

www.USF1000.com should be fully live by no later than December 2012.
To contact the respective series management :

US Formula 1000 East : Mike Beauchamp east@USF1000.com
US Formula 1000 West : Thomas Copeland / Nicholas Belling west@USF1000.com

    Default Prize Money

Ok Boys, Here is my challenge to you, If you guys can put together a feild of 20 cars or more to start the first race I will give $1000.00 in cash, on the podium to the winner. Since it is a double race weekend the winner will be decided from a point system, example 1 point for first, 2 points for second, 3 for third and so on, The driver with the lowest points after the second race wins the cash!! In the event of a tie the highest finisher in the first race takes it!!
This is not a part of either pro series this is just somthing I wanted to do,
    So lets go racing

I was about to ask everyone to put their money where their mouth is and actually show up to the first race at COTA but George beat me to it and literally put his money where his mouth is!

I earnestly believe that between me and Thomas/Nicholas, there will be more prizes up for grabs but George is really stepping up.

So, get those cars ready, arrange transportation, and be there!

Bumming a ride from JP? Cats and dogs living together? WTF?

I just told my 7 year old that there is no such thing as Santa Claus, and his Christmas present is a set of tires he can't use. He's pretty smart for a little guy and saw this coming. Now I gotta figure out how to totally Grinch everyone else out in my house, and stuff the mattress 'til March.

    It is doable.

BTW- Good luck to everyone at Sebring this weekend.

Default 2013 should be a very exciting year for FB/F1000 drivers !

Alot of attention to the new USF1000 championship series is based from actual drivers feedback ! of what the drivers want. as well as looking back at previous years of what has worked and been good and what has not..

Between the East and the West new alignment !
it is going to be a fantastic year no doubt for the drivers.

we are always listening to improve any and all aspects of the series so feel free to email
the series in the press release down below. or PM mike N, thomas or myself.

We all know F1000 is awesome, especially with these great folks investing time and effort into class growth. The recent and past bumps in the road make these 2013 plans even more special.

    It's going to be a fun 2013 season, and I don't even have an F1000! :-).

    Nice work guys (an understatement).

PS. I'm trying to figure out how I can be at COTA in March. Sure sounds like the place to be.

I think it'll happen, come on lets put a 20 car field together. who else is in??
    COTA list:

    JP
    Coop
    Altaman
    Anthony Autiello
    Brett Lane
    Rich Franklin
    Michael Crowe
    Tim Pierce
    Gary Hickman
    David Burkett

Lastly, Mike, Nicholas, Thomas: can you say SEPARATE RACE?? if you can get 20 cars to pay $1000 instead of $700 that's $6k to buy a separate race (or $4k for a separate race and $2k in prizes).......I know it's a long shot but what's the worse they can say? no? I'd think they would be receptive to $$$$

    Something to be thankful for.

Sorry guys, had to throw that one out there on a day like today(pun intended). Especially after the Lewis debacle last year. The unity for the series should help with recruitment of new drivers and sponsors.

    Default lodging and transportion

My son tells me there are several camp grounds near the track for those who might be interested....and hotels too.....maybe we could get some group discounts.

There definately is a need for someone to arrange group transport.....that would insure a larger turn out.

That is definately not my area of expertise......but surely someone either has a rig or can get their hands on one.

Default Book your hotel if you have a slight incling to be going !

FYI.. I just spoke to an official within the region.

They had mentioned that during the COTA event weekend the Southwest Festival is happening.

    http://sxsw.com/schedule

THis festival overlaps the COTA event timeframe and hotel rooms quickly become spoken for.

I was told that Book a hotel south or east of austin city and not in the city center. Even if the hotel is 20 miles away, supposidly highways to the track are 85MPH speed limits...

And of course you can always cancel your hotel room a month before if needed.

Ok, here's a second challenge from Richard Dziak, and Formula Racing LTD.com

Agree with George Dean, must be a 20 car field or more to start the first race of the year in Austin, TX.

$200 awarded to any driver that comes in 1st Place in both races Saturday & Sunday event. That means a "double win". Let's see if there is a dominate force this year, after the news that Brandon Dixon is going to F2000. Let's see who will set the pace for an exciting year for F1000 in 2013.

I was a cash sponsor for the F1000 Mike B F1000 Championship in 2012, so you can be assured that the winner of this challenge will get paid.

Hopefully this will be another incentive for a large group and super start to the F1000 2013 season. Winner will receive a check once the winner is determined and sent to that driver personally by myself, the day following the race.

Does anyone know a contact person at COTA, my game plan would be to ship my car, spares and equipment in an ISO container, however I would need someone to receive it.

If anyone is coming from the north east, an is interested in splitting the cost of a 40' container please send me a private message.

Looking forward to a great weekend, Thanks Mike B for putting this together.
