    Default Congratulations FC

    Great news:
Formula Continental has surpassed the required number of participants during the 2012 racing season in order to step out of provisional status and become an established championship class in ICSCC.

We welcome several new owners of FC's in Washington and British Columbia as well.

Many thanks to the many participants and Greg Coffin (Spokane) in particular.

Yes, Greg has done a lot for the class.
    Congratulations to all though!
We should be out racing again next year, see you at the track Michael.

    Hey Lawrence,
Did you you get yourself a FC?. If so, congrats.
Looking forward to racing with you again, last time ( many, many years ago) was in FV's.

Rick, sorry you couldn't hang on either, but Thanks, we needed the cars for the GLC Championship around here. One of your cars finished 2nd overall in the CFC class with it's new driver (Bill Wise).

WOW, Keith good to hear that too. Jeff did really well with the cars finishing on the podium every race he was in accept one (my fault there). The cars always seemed to be handling well and were 'quick' keeping up with much newer cars. Glad to see Bill Wise had a good year.

Which one was it? The one you had previously rebuilt or the other one?

    P.S.
The Michael Lensen above was Jeff's nemisis in his 'newer', WELL PREPARED Van Diemen. Jeff only beat him once and that was a fluke.

    Default FC Championship Class

Congratulations to all 12 drivers who competed over the 2012 season with the result that FC is now an ICSCC Championship Class. Well done. A special thanks to ML for guiding us thru the administrative path to Championship Class status, and pushing me forward to become a better driver. Special thanks to Daryl Harsha ( he and I are I believe the only guys in class to have both run at Riverside) for his participation over the years and for keeping the Championship close down to the last race. And finally to the Hot Potatoes from Calgary.

See you all next year........plus a few more .......you know who you are.....

Belated congratulations to Greg on his championship winning season!
It's been a pleasure helping out when needed. The Mygale is a very easy, well-designed chassis to work on and Greg & family couldn't make the client/service provider experience any better!

On our racing front: One chassis deal has fallen through. another is looking good
If anyone can prod some Cali. VARA guys into buying the Mustang I'd appreciate it.

Looking forward to racing with you and the (continously growing) FC group here in the North West.

A little birdie told me lawrence is not the only one. Plus there are at least three novice upgrades into the class for next year as well.

    Default Birdies speak?

Yes, we have a new car to the family, we're going over to Al's this Monday to pick up the Argo.
Take it easy on me on the track though, it's been a few years since I've done the wheel-to-wheel thing...it may take me a year to get up to speed. I'm already there in my head, just have to transmit it to the rest of my body.
Cindy and I are glad to be back racing and looking fwd. to meeting the "group".

Lawrence, sorry I can't give you a year to get up to speed!!!

I remember your admirable FV racing skills, and assuming not much has changed mentally, and assuming you did not quadruple your weight, you will be up to speed in no time.

So we (the FC boys) will give you Sat morning to get back into "the groove", Sat afternoon to get familiar with the new car, so by Sunday morning you put 1 and 2 together, and by race time it will be back to the "good ole times" .
    Agreed??

    Michael,
So two "familiarity" sessions and then off to the races? Let's see, I've raced once in the last 5 years, in a closed wheel car, in the rain with no rain tires, driven twice this year for total of one hour on lapping days in a Super Vee that I hadn't ever driven before.
I guess that qualifies as a pretty good restart into open wheeled racing!
Just need to clear all of this with the license director...
    Lawrence

Oh yeah, I forgot about the ChumpCar "Children of the Sun" 24 hr. race a few years ago...that one should qualify as 3 race weekends then shouldn't it?

Round, mostly constructed of varying compositions of rubber

I don't think there is any rule regarding which tire, just the size of the tire, rim diameter and width.
Maybe someone knows if that's going to change at the Spring Meeting?
2012 rules list the cars as FL so no rules. I assume we'd be using the GCR as a guide, same as FV, FF, etc.?

    Default I believe...

There was at one point a reference in the regs that said class will follow Gcr rules as of a specific date just like fa and fm

FC is "open tire" in SCCA and therefore in ICSCC also. As Goodyear is 'giving up' on amateur racing, I'd keep that as the rule.

Run what you can buy in the correct sizes. Hoosier's were always good to us. Especially BERGET used.
