    Hi Desmond,
Not so sure you want to know and I don't have all the details. Race 1 had a tight 7 car train. With about 2 laps left red flag came out for an incident at the bottom of corner 2. I only saw 3 of the cars from the lead pack come back to pit lane. 1 driver ( Spenser ) transported to hospital. The other drivers were reported OK. No update on the drivers condition when I had to leave the track. Apparently extensive damage although I didn't see any of the cars returned to pit lane.

    Wishing Spenser recovery,
    John B.

my brother was in T3 and saw it unfold through T2 and he gave me a call
it seems very serious. i really dont want to comment or speculate anything, but the general rundown of what happened to spencer was:

spencer's car appears to have flipped multiple times. the trans and engine separated from the chassis. it was very violent.

I myself was following the race from livetiming.net, there was a tight 7 car train.

i hope everything turns out ok and i'm hoping to hear some positive news.
i'm sure more will be known tomorrow.

Came upon the wreck just as the cars came to a stop. Yes car parts were everywhere.

From what understand Spencer has been transported to a nearby hospital, he is alert and undergoing tests. As to his injuries, I've heard he has a arm injury. Do not want to speculate or pass along wrong info to anyone.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Spencer.

Kind of a sour day today...All that is left of Spencer's car was the front of the chassis...parts everywhere. Not something that anyone should see, let alone be involved in.

How it happened...from what I have heard, Steve was leading...him and Mike got into each other half way down two, and Steve lost control and began spinning to the outside of the track. Spencer had nowhere to go, and launched over the front of Steve's car and starting tumbling.

Update on Spencer's status: He has a broken arm, and I am not sure what else. What I can add is that they did a scan on his head and there is no swelling and/or brain damage. This is the best news of the day, as looking at the scene of the accident, it looked like it was going to be much worse. I think the track officials thought that as well as the track was immediately shut down for the day and a full investigation including police.

I have to say, I am extremely impressed how well the driver cockpit held up considering the damage to the rest of the car.
We are all very thankful to know that Spencer is stable and wish him all the best.

Was he wearing arm restraints? From what I recall you guys aren't required to wear them. Would it have helped?

I talked to Spencer's dad who returned to the track later in the evening and confirmed that the injuries were as reported above. It is a concussion and likely broken collarbone. Good news! The cars were returned to us and racing will continue Sunday.
Late night for our crew! Thanks!

If they awarded full points for race one. I count that Steve B earned 300 points to Mike's 254 so Steve would win by 4 points

We don't do math at RiceRacePrep but we assume Mike won his 5th consecutive championship, despite the announcers comments to the contrary. Fortunately, no last corner "bump n runs" in the F1200 racing finale.

We're still buzzing about Noel's fantastic race leading multiple laps. Good inspiration for new racers .... mix hard work, dedication, and wise application of resources ..... running at the front is very possible!

A very good day that we all needed. Cheers!

Well done Noel. Absolutely; testimony to meticulous planning and obvious skill. Very inspiring.
Congrads to Mike, Steve and the rest of the top 5.
    Thanks for a fun season.

Thankfully it sounds like Spencer will be ok after what looked like a terrible accident. Everyone wishes Spencer a quick recovery & we are all thankful his injuries weren't worse.

It was great to have Spencer's Dad out at the Sunday races, I know it made it easier for myself & I am sure everyone else.

The way I see the points is Mike will win based on drops so congratulations to him. He did exactly what he needed to this weekend & I did all I could to close the gap.

It was great to see Noel leading there, I was behind him & driving down the front straight & there was a big crowd cheering on the pit wall for him...it was really nice to see, congratulations Noel. We then used him as the sacrificailal lamb to draft by down the back straight on the last lap but he knew that was going happen & without that it would have been much more difficult for me to win the last race. Thanks Noel for that!

I must add that it was great to see Frank up & walking around the paddock all weekend. Too bad he wasn't out in a 1200 but still was good to have him with us.

Thanks to everyone who made 2012 a great 1200 season. There are way too many great people in our series to list as I don't want to leave anyone out so I will just leave it as thanks to all involved with the Formula 1200's.

Get well soon Spencer, thats two of us visiting a hospital but we are both Ok thank Goodness, and great Medical teamwork.Great to see Steve,Noel,Matt and Kevin Kapelke doing so well and congratulations to Mike if he is Champion yet again..no mean feat!!Watching the racing from corner 9 up on the banking was amazing, the difference in the latter racing after the NO BUMP DRAFTING talk was so much more fun to witness.Seeing it all as a spectator puts a whole different perspective on it all, also knowing all the cars/drivers makes it even more fun to watch.I can say this much,it was damn scary to watch the nose to tail stuff in race 1..it is definitley safer and much more interesting to watch without the bump drafting etc,the whole field was a tighter bunch.

Glad to hear so many great postive stories from the sunday. much needed.

Steve, great job - you did all you possibly could and got the maximum possible. phenonmenal.
Mike, great job - you did exactly what you needed to do and raced hard all year long every lap.

Noel, way to get in there - look out leading gets addictive! you'll want more.

I also noticed from the time sheets that Matt Garwood was right in there as well.

After the dust has settled it would seem that this entire season should be remembered as one of the best, most competitive, tough and challenging seasons on so many levels.

I'm happy to have participated in it and raced against such good competition.

    Default Unofficial Champion

Well, the numbers are put in, and I am pretty confident in saying that this is the closest finish to a Formula 1200 series in history.

Final standings WITH drops has Mike with 1298 points and Steve with 1292 points.

Without drops has Steve with 1400 points, and Mike with 1396 points.

I also wouldn't be surprised if this is the first time we have seen the championship be determined from drops. Steve had 9 wins on the season, and Mike only finished out of the top three on three occasions, including his drops. In this case, consistency takes the cake!

Regardless, very impressive season for both drivers. Looking forward to next year already!.....6-time?

Congratulations to both Steve and Mike for an outstanding season, and outstanding finish. This goes for all the drivers that made this a fun, if not intersting season.

Our thoughts are with Spencer for a speed recovery and return to the track.

As for leading my first couple of laps??? Wrong place at the right time? I was excited at first, but as I reached corner 2, I started adding Ballast to the car..But all said and done it was fun. My concern is that I did not screw things up for Steve and Mike as they battled to the end.

Again, thank you to everyone for a great season..Thanks Greg and Steve for beating the encouragement into me to get the job done...

Goes to show how the new points system works out...CASC still uses our "old" points structure. The CASC championship win for Steve is definitely credit to the 9 wins he got this year. Congrats Steve!
