Default As an Introduction of Myself and Formula 3...

I'm a new member to the Apex website, and I see how effective this site is to discuss the passion we all share for open-wheel racing, or any form of racing really.

With so many different types of open-wheel categories out there, (more so in North America than elsewhere) how does one choose which formula class is right for them?

And why does Formula 3 have 10 different Championships around the world all operating as their own independent "franchises" but so far none in North America?

I invite people to voice in their opinion, (please keep it professional) and discuss the differences of Formula 3 to any and all the other open-wheel Series' here...

As the owner of a Formula 3 in the States I'm sure I will find this very interesting.

I would think that the biggest reason F3 never took off in the US is do to the Formula Super Vee and Formula Atlantic series that were running and we can't forget Indy Lights.

Although the early FSV and FA where based on F2 and F3 cars they evoled into there own and left no room for F3. Lets not forget the lack of a major series to run as support.

Default Good to see another F3 car...

Topper, great to see another F3 car out there ofcourse. I hope this forum section can spur more of us to come forward to discuss their Formula 3 cars and how they perform.

Allof, if anything I think the landscape is even more crowded and worse than during those times 12 years ago. I counted on this forum alone 15+ open wheel junior formulas all running cars today. Seems like everyone out there wants their own Series and build their own bespoke cars to sell.

And, I don't know of any major event formula to give money to a lower, non-associated formula. Yes, Indy and Indy Lights have a happy marriage and some funding may be passed around in there, but would a Grand Am or ALMS pay money to have an Atlantic or Formula 3 Series run during their race weekends? If so, where do I sign up!...

    Default Mark Tosa

Mark, perhaps a bit of background would be of benefit. I used to be president of CRDA and a member of CASC's Presidents Council. I know a lot of the "old folks" in CASC from the past 30 years or so. I am sure we know some of the same people?

Give us a little background, please.

    Thanks,

Lotus7...when did you contact me directly via my Contact Page off of my website; www.formula3.ca it is automatically sent to my Entourage via register@formula3.ca address but I never did receive any email or correspondence from you? I surely would have responded though.

    Wrote you last week.
Having spent the best part of 30 years in Brossard before moving here, I figured I might of at least heard of you.
And again curious you didn't take the opportunity of your post a few minutes ago to actually answer.....?

Lotus7...honestly I received nothing which is odd? I do get every email through my website Contact page, it's alarming that I may not be getting some.

Looks as if GoDaddy is getting a call from me tomorrow. Call me anytime you like to discuss whatever, I'm usually always on the phone or online...Cheers!

    Default Hmmmm

Mark, I just did some digging and I see you are VP of powerlynx motorsports? The link to them on your Canadian F3 site runs to a dead link; the web address is "parked".

We are all a little suspect of event organizers. A few "bad apples" out there have messed up some series....so help yourself out; give us some background?

Perhaps the link you posted on your web site is incorrect?

    Default PLX...

the site is going through a re-vamp, with all the browser updates and with so many of them out there, parts of the site weren't looking good visually. Even with cross-browser capability some pieces still looked broken. So probably another week it should be back up and running.

    Default Take it Easy Man...

Lotus7...this forum is not a job interview process, I don't have to give you my resume, nor be pressed into answering your questions by your publicly-displayed demands.

I offered you to call me anytime you like to discuss the Championship if you want. Brian was kind enough to put my Linked In link on here to quell your concerns.

But understand, this isn't an interrogation of me being pushed into convincing you whether I'm worthy or not to run a Championship, be on this forum or be your friend.

I'm here to start a Championship which you may or may not join in anyways. So then your pressures would seem redundant. This is only about a Formula 3 Championship coming here.

You don't HAVE to do anything. However, people are understandably gun shy about individuals who come seemingly out of nowhere and start up a series. Especially now, due to the recent F1000 debacle. If you choose not to provide some background info about yourself, people are going to be reluctant to trust you or take anything you say at face value. Those of us who have looked up public domain registrations and phone listings are especially skeptical.

...sure, I understand your reservations, I've had some scammers call me up to try and prey on my motorsports passion by trying to pull a fast one on me which is impossible to do since I've been a salesman for 20+ years and have seen it all.

I think the one person you are mentioning is a Clay Malooley in Florida? If it isn't then watch out for him cause' he's a scammer as well. Also just recently I had another guy call me, the boisterous KC Webb out of Utah which is a Crazy Man scammer.

But as I said, anyone can call me or email me directly, meet me at races around Quebec, or talk with people in the racing circles that I know, you have my Linked In profile already. Now let's get back to business and talk about the motorsports arena.

    No.

I think you are making a mistake by not addressing the concerns openly and publicly, but that is just my opinion. Good luck.

    Brett,

The Floridian that I'm referring to is not you. In fact he is quite the opposite. And if your latino friends call you a redneck, I wonder how they would deal with a yooper, eh!

Now back to the fascinating F3 cars.

Default Scam City Episode # P1 - Motorsports Scammers...

If you want to talk about scammers, I've had this guy KC Webb from Utah call me out of the blue last week saying he's going to buy Miller Motorsports Park for $90 mill, and he's got all the casinos in Las Vegas in his backpocket because he's "good friends" with Steve Wynn and all the other casino owners and he wants to buy the IndyCar Series or reap revenge on them with another form of formula racing and blah, blah, blah and even more blahs! believe me!

But I knew it was a big scam from the very beginning, as well as Floridian Clay Malooley's previous efforts. I said to KC, "step up and buy my Formula 3 car for $92,000 and I'll ship you more cars" then ofcourse I never heard back from him again. So as I've already seen, you guys are very apprehensive in trusting new people to this site or to motorsports in general, heed my warning of these 2 others that you may not know of yet, because they may call 1 day.

Your linkedin listing was the first thing I found (and it provides little), hence my questions.
Others are chiming in, you can see you're battling a deep-rooted suspicion of new promoters, as almost anyone thats been around a while has dealt with one or more of them in a losing manner at some point. Suit yourself :-)

    No, info on Clay Malooley

He has met with one of my real estate agents here in Indianapolis, but I have concerns about this being for real, as all details are fuzzy and no way to verify anything he is saying/emailing, etc.

I tried pulling up a few links to websites about him, but those sites are down and the wayback machine doesn't have the paged indexed.

When you are searching that wayback machine, try Edward Clay Malooley, 3 different corporations registered with Florida Department of State, none of which are active, all motorsports related titles. The last being EC Motorsports, LLC. email addresses are fasracer@msn.com and clay426@yahoo.co, also shows an address in Indianapolis.

Fuzzy details, no way to verify, walk away.

Which "guy"? I met the original poster in Ottawa at a club meeting a bunch of years back. He was trying to sell F3 cars from europe. At the time I was poor so laughed at his crazy prices.

Not that crazy after all though.
