Default Three weeks out to the penultimate weekend of the 2012 seaso

3 weeks from today the F2000 and F1600 Championship DSeries, along with the finale of the inaugural Atlantic Championship Series, will be competing at West Virginias Summit Point Motorsports Park.
All three classes have 2 full hours of dedicated single class timed practice and qualifying on Friday August 24 before the weekends competition begins with morning warmups and races either right before lunch, right after lunch or as the final on track activity of the day.
Sharing the facility with CCS Motorcycle Racing will prove an interesting and unique spectating opportunity to watch singlarly dedicated road racing motorcyclists.
If new to that discipline, be prepared to be in awe of bikes ridden really fast by brave riders.

    Default Summit Point and dogs

Does anyone know if Summit is a dog friendly track? My sister will be coming over from Baltimore and she does not go anywhere with out her dog.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't bring a dog given there is always at least one dog in the office there.

Let me know where you will be camping so I can be sure the dog can find it.

Really healthy field for Summit, which is great. Not sure if everyone saw but Quantum will have Haruaki Tanaka, a driver from Japan in one of their F1600 cars for this race, very cool. Be sure to make him feel welcome as this is his first race in America.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend.

Man, those kids don't waste any time. 15 laps and they're a second or two quicker than the really good home track boys..

Thank god we didnt adopt a spec tire rule for FF Nationals 2 years ago, who would want to go as slow as these guys are going on those lousy Hoosier spec tires.

Congrats to everyone. Good luck tomorrow and Sunday.

Only got to stay for the races on Saturday, but watched them all from the bleachers above turn 5, where the contact happened, and the 9 car got stuck high-centered on the curbing after the spin. That front group was certainly racing hard the entire race.

If you've never ventured out to watch the pro-series as a spectator, you should go. Watching that number of fully prepped F1600, and F2000s on the track was interesting. It was a good show

Listened to the race on Live Audio, sounded like a wild one. Pretty much everyone went off at least once. Jeremy led most of the race before going off and falling to second. Still a great showing.

What a blast! The above picture is indeed worth 1000 words.

The payoff for Rand and all the staff is that we get to see incredible races everytime we throw one of these parties.

Being paddocked with about 400 serious road race bikers was a good thing. They appreciated what we were doing. We thought they were completely nutso. Two teams on Sunday completed a 75 lap race in the wet...running slicks the whole way.

Default Got what I asked for...

A CHALLENGE!! Had a great first weekend with the F1600 series at my home track this weekend. Driving these cars is WAY different then driving a FV but what a blast! It was really nice being on track with only cars in the same class and I look forward to more F1600 series races. See you at the Glen!

This is Ray's slick looking ride. You did very well for your first weekend with the series, the competition is no joke!

Ray's first on-track session was impressive. He was pretty far up the grid. AND he has been through a crazy month after repairing major crash damage from a T-bone during his Honda conversion debut.

It's always fun to see local/club guys doing well in the series.

Thanks guys! Here are some pics of the wreck that I was unfortunately involved in at the Summit Point regional a month before. I was practicing for the F1600 race weekend and it all went wrong on the second lap. A special thanks goes out to K-Hill Motorsports for getting the car to a welder that turned it around in less than a week's time and to Greg Rice for selling me some much needed parts. It was a lot of work to get it back together but I'm really glad a put forth the effort and that I have a very understanding wife (Terry) who, by the way, is also my crew. I received these pics over the weekend from Roz Rosintoski so he gets the photo credit.

Another btw, Tim Minor of Automotive Specialist Center and Jeremy Grenier of Ski Motorsports, and Eric Langbein have also been a huge help to me.

    Default Red Cars

Some of the red cars from last weekend.

McCusker was thrown into the deep end of the pool early in the year. Saturday he was looking good.
Art and Joe had some of the fastest lap times Sunday in the wet.
Steve was as high as second in Sunday's race.

What you have to do if you are the engineer supporing an Atlantic and a F1600 when their races are back to back.
