Default Pagoda Hillclimb - Reading, PA

I had an enjoyable weekend at The Pagoda Hillclimb June 23 & 24. Great folks and good weather.
93 cars made timed runs up the hill. It was my first visit to this hill and I have some improvement to work on. I finished 1st in class and 9th overall. If you have never tried hill climbing - put it on your bucket list.

The car is running great after more than a year of chasing gremlins (Not the AMC kind). Times would have been better if the driver had driven as good as the car ran.

That FB would look good on the hills.

    Dave,
I have had a request to attend a local hill climb with the FM. What kind of gears stack were you running? Did you like those selections or suggest something different?

    Steve,

My car has dual holomologation (FM /FS). I run the car in FS because of several changes. First, I have a 2009 6-port stock Renesis motor. The RPM limit is set to 8500 and it has a 9:31 R&P. I run Hoosier R-25's and use DSR fronts and rears.

My gear stack in non-stock as follows:

    1st 13:38
    2nd 16:35
    3rd 17:29
    4th 18:25
    5th 21:25

On paper this gear stack should be good for up to and above 130MPH (not that I want to drive that kind of speed on a twisty mountain road) and still have plenty of grunt for slow switch backs and steep inclines.

I believe Tmurph's FM is basically a stock standard FM with only the gear stack changed to run hillclimbs. I do not know how well the stock short gear stack would pull off corners, depending on how tight your turns would be.

I would say, give it a try and see what you think.

Thanks for the tip Dave. I will be giving it a whirl later this summer.

And what's wrong with 130 on a road with switchbacks and steep grades??

Peak should report the postponement date tomorrow. Competitors were given three possible choices to consider for input.

been up and down that road a thousand times but never in a race car. We were gonna do it this year till we found our schedule with frcca conflicted. Would be nice to drive 10 minutes to a race. and if i had any issues my shop is right down the street. Maybe Duryea hillclimb (the next one?) we'll get to. I have plenty of parking for big trucks if anyone would need but we're about 6 blocks from the starting line.
Better to have raced for a day...
than been a spectator for life!
