Brandon Dixon got the jump on the start of the fourth round of the Formula 1000 Championship Series at the New Jersey Motorsports Park, but it was Bill McLaughlin that came out the winner.

Dixon in his Citation led the first 12 laps of the race until engine issues sidelined him near turn 7. Several drivers including Glenn Cooper had a bad start which saw Cooper in his Hell No Kitty Firman exit the race after 6 laps with mechanical issues. JR Osborne also parked his Stohr after 2 laps with a sour engine.

Alex Mayer in the Elan DP-04 was running strong in the front pack until an electrical problem sent him out of the race on lap 7.

But it was McLaughlin in the RFR/AIM/Pro-Shift Firman that took control over the remaining laps, walking away from the pack with Richard Franklin in the Waterfall Security Solutions Stohr who also won the Rilltech Hard Charger Award and Jason Slahor in his Van Diemen finishing in 2nd and 3rd respectfully.

Default Thanks ! Fellow Stohr owner!

Thanks Jake!

Yes, some Cerveceria Modelo S.A. DE. CV. MEXICO, D.F. has definitely been consumed!

For those looking to Google or " Wikipedia " the above, let me save you the trouble.....

"Founded in 1925, "Cerveceria Modelo" is now one of the two most important Mexican breweries. Their first trademark was Modelo and subsequently introduced Corona. The company entered to the international market with its top brands: Corona Extra, Corona Light, Negra Modelo, Modelo Especial and Pacifico. "

Richard, where you thinking of the possible outcome sitting on the grid?
How soon did you realize you were on the podium?

Default All credit goes to my Crew Chief!!

Mike,

Thanks!....As for your question, I thought I'd have a good shot at a decent finish after seeing J.R. Osborne slowing down. Up to that point, I had an excellent start (G. Cooper had stalled in front of me) & no one had passed me. After a few laps, my Crew Chief-Hawk Hibbs called the radio.." You're in position 5 ". Laps later, I noticed a dark red car at turn 7, I was thinking it was P. Seabrook, (not knowing it was Dixon) Soon I heard " You're in 3rd position, Slator ahead" ... That's when I thought...Wow! I saw Jason a few turns ahead and put my head down....then " Slator is 5 seconds ahead, his engine is popping....Keep digging! ". Next couple of laps I passed Jason right in front of the tower on the front stretch at 130mph... He shadowed me for a few laps then made a VERY, VERY strong surge on the last lap. We finished so close @ the finish line. I could see him pumping his fists at the steering wheel!

Congrats to all on the podium. A clear example of why we actually race. You just never know how things are going to turn out. This sure tightens up the series points standings.

Been harder than we anticipated to find grid girls at some of the events.
