Just went for a DEXA SCAN and my BMI was 28.7 they said that with my current bone density and muscle mass I need to lose 15 lbs to be NORMAL wich will bring me to about 218

I have been working out and have lost a legitimate 7 pounds

But still will be about 17 pounds over weight

Is Minor not a normal adult male weight? He's got a lot of ballast already.

It would be interesting to know how much each of the drivers weighs in their racing gear.

How much did Schweitz weigh at the end of the race?

I don't know how much Minor weighs but he had a really surprising amount of ballast bolted to his car

Minor needs a lot of lead to make 1210. When Eric drove that car, it was around 75 lbs of lead to make weight. You have to be a large man to not make weight in a Citation in F2000 trim.

Last year, Schwietz was down to 220 lbs, and I needed to add 15 lbs of lead to make 1210. Now he has probably gained back 20-25 or so lbs, and there is no lead in the car, so he is a touch over weight. I don't remember the exact number.

Rob weighs over 190lbs and there is both lead and parts on our car that weigh more then what I replaced them for. No problem with weight.

Pre 2011 Puder had been hitting the gym & really slimmed down. Did he return to bad habits over the winter or does an RFR weigh more than a Van Dieman?

Notice that Charles was saying "the car is 48 pounds over weight"...
In Charles' case, the brass cajones weigh a lot.

I weigh between 165-170 w/ gear depending on what I ate the night before. There is ~25 lb of removable ballast + a second 1/8" steel floor pan (22 lb). There are also various steel pieces that could be aluminum adding at least 10 lb more than necessary. So, currently, there is ~57 lb of "ballast" on my Citation to make 1210 w/o fuel.

    Hum...
Maybe sand 18 coats of paint off the bodywork,
    Aluminum calipers,
    mag wheels,
    cramic bearings,
take the CD player out of the dash,
    .062 aluminum floor...

    or buy a Citation...

Eat me Matt, if you weigh 195 and allowed yourself to be 40# over than there is an impolite name for you.

On most tracks you take out 40# you will pick up a second and a half maybe two seconds.

Bob Wright, Brent Gilkes, Thom Fatur and Charles Finelli are now at a one second to two second disadvantage compared to the jockies in the top 11 spots. Further we have to over drive our cars into through and out of slow corners in frustration chancing a spin doing so.

    Charles,

Don't get all snippy, people will start thinking you are not the mature, rational, reasonable, carrying person we all know you are.

a thought....maybe the Fatboys should round up sponsopship for a Fat Boys sub-class. You guys buy the trophies, etc. and we'll get Brad to score you separately (say an F next to driver name). You can decide a criteria, either car weight with driver (say...1250), or driver weight alone (say...200+). We will pull the top three into impound every session for compliance.

Do note: if you base it on combined car weight with driver, Livengood will just add more ballast to steal your throphy. Better base it on driver weight.

i'm fatass again. 210lbs, should be 190lbs. Even if I lost 20 lbs i nowhere near making weight.

The RFR can make weight. I believe Livengood is either right around 1210 or might even have ballast.
Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.

Seriously this IS becoming an issue for me.

The top ten drivers are all SMALL or driving a Citation and SMALL (Weitzenhoff) Big (Schweitz) Medium (Minor)

I will split the difference, you bump up minimum by 20# I will lose 20# and buy those ****ty aluminium calipers for a couple of grand then I will be at Tim Minors and the rest of top 10 boys weight.

While i do feel your pain...at the Atlanta double national in March Pollywog and i finished the race at 1237.

I won't be recommending raising the weight. In fact, every year i vote to lower it. (Say 1190 like it used to be.) I always get out-voted. Except for DaveW, he votes for 1175.

Since i keep records on every impound in the last 6+ years, i can tell you raising the minumum weight won't change the finishing order much. A few years ago when Cole and Inge were regulars, it was not unusual for them to be scaling in at 1235-1238 at the end of a race.
Raise the minumum weight, and the guys that now weigh in at 1210 will be putting more ballast in strategic places that are much lower than your 'natural' ballast. Advantage, light guys.

you'd best leave well enough alone. at least now you have an excuse.
if they raise the weight limit, you'll have to find another.

    charles,
if you were serious about it, you could get the car down to weight.
there are ways to save weight you haven't dreamed of.
light weight batteries [have to see them to believe them], hoses, etc.
in the last year i saw a FF put on a diet with unbelievable results.

Oh, believe me, he has the lightweight battery in the car. That's why I have to go running down pit lane carrying a full size jumper!

The car Fabio is driving (77) weighs about 1020 on the series scales with a 16 lb battery (very low in the car) and a heavy tea tray and undertray. It weighs 1010 on Glenn's scales. Not sure which ones are right, but the series scales are the ones that matter!

With a lightweight battery and lightweight undertray, tea tray, and bodywork we can get an Rn.10 down to around 975 to 985 depending how aggressive we want to be. I think the Citations are even lighter.

Of course, I would not object at all if they raised the minimum weight to 1250. That would just give me more ballast to play with and allow me to lower the CG of the car!

I know Jim Hanrahan's Van Diemen was light enough he could make weight at ~220 lbs, and he didn't have anything extreme on his car. There can be a lot of weight in paint and bodywork repairs.

The Alcon and AP aluminum calipers are around 2.5 lbs each, so you save about 10-11 lbs over LD20 calipers, and all of it unsprung weight. The Alcons cost $390 each, not sure about the APs. The PFC aluminum calipers would save you about 6 lbs over the cast iron calipers, I think. If you already have ICP cast iron calipers, they are only slightly heavier than the AP and Alcon aluminum calipers.

    Charles ,
This ain't high school wrestling or golden gloves boxing.
How many damn weight classes do you want ?
    Under 40 years old up to 1200, under 40 up to 1240, under 40 over 1240, over 40 under 1200, over 40 up to 1240, over 40 over 1240.
Charles, respectfully, shut the hell up.........
And you can take that as from me as your friend or me as the series manager, I really don't care at this point.
Yup. had a few pops, just enough to post this........
    Get over yourself, now.
