Default Why is Formula Car Challenge entry fee so high?

I'm getting ready to go racing in the FM I bought a few months ago and have been practicing and testing in. I plan to run with SCCA/CalClub and HSR West in SoCal, and Formula Car Challenge in NorCal.

I noticed that the June FCC event at Infineon runs with NASA, and has a $650 weekend entry fee. But if you race with NASA in one of its modified street car classes, the weekend fee is only $349. Why the $300+ differenece? Track time is the same.

HSR West is best club racing for money on West Coast.
$360 for two and $560 for three day weekend.
SCCA just like money much much more.
There are some blocks that own older F 1 and Indy cars .
Good old boys just going fast and having racing fun.
I'll try to run with HSR Button and Willow this year.
REALLY COOL GUYS NO POLITICS,JUST RACING.

Track fees (the charge to the club for use of the track) are the same. How many cars are in the modified street car classes to spread out those fees, vs how many formula cars? Imagine if you had a run group of 2 cars. What do you think the entry fee would be?

Paying the entry fee is the challenge. Duh.

The entry fee is a pretty small cost compared to the overall weekend cost anyway, and while you don't have quite your own dedicated run group, it's very close to it. Compare that to any other club, or even the other run groups in the same NASA weekend.

    Default FCC

    Richard,

I'm running in the std. FM in the norcal series & look @ it this way. The $650 entry fee is somewhat of a bite but when you factor in the 6 sessions (2 practice, 2 Q & 2 races) we run over a 2 day period it pencils out. Coming from Sacto, I have 1 -2 nights in hotel, meals & other offtrack incidentals vs. 2-3 nights in other venues. This is also some good "green flag" racing possibly due to all mazda. World Speed runs a good series & its nice to have them @ the track when you need them for service, parts, technical questions,,etc. I believe SCCA entry is $535 @ Infineon for 5 sessions so if you just look @ cost/minute of track time it makes for sense. Hope to see you in June & don't hesitate to pm me if you have any questions about the series.

Almost forgot, I won the Goodyear Tire & Redline raffle @ last race which paid for the variance the rest of the season.

Default Formula Car Challenge Prize Money & Contingencies

I would also like to add that in the Formula Car Challenge, there is season end prize money as well as other product sponsorship, An organized series, and Regional Dealers to support Formula Mazda's and drivers.

    Thanks to:

MazdaSpeed: $15,000 cash overall to Regional and National Formula Car Challenge Drivers - The majority of that dedicated just to Formula Mazda's to be awarded at season end to the entrants in all (4) regions.

Moses Smith Racing: up to $20,000. Each region's points fund will be awarded $50 per entry per race through out the year up to $5,000 in each region. The more people that race the bigger the points fund.

Goodyear: at least 2 and up to 4 tires (depending on car count) FREE per race (not weekend, each race). Awarded by drawing.

This is just a start and does not include, regionalized prizes and contingencies.

Thanks for being part of the Formula Car Challenge and the Formula Mazda Family.

$900 for PFM which gets the same amount of track time as FM is ridiculous....its just club racing..just saying.
