RFR 1000 on "The Grid"

Watched the latest eddition of Mobile 1 The Grid last night and the last segment was on a series being promoted in the middle east. It features "GSXR 1000 powered cars with a tubular chassis." Sure looked like RFRs to me. They said the series runs competitors 45k Pounds compared to Formula BMW in Asia at 100-150k. At one point they stated the horsepower was 150, so maybe they are running some type of limiter/restrictor. None the less, it was cool to see the cars featured in a big time telecast.

It's called Formula Gulf and the cars are Ralph Firman designed. Here's a pic of one.

It's a one make spec series and the cost is $85K for the season. The cars are all owned by the series and you rent them for the season similar to how Skip Barber does it, although you get the same car for the entire season.

These are all RFR-1000's running with 07/08 Suzuki engines. They run in a racing series primarily at the Dubai GP track. They have been running this series at least 2 years I think. If you go on You Tube you'll find many videos of these cars in action including some great in car footage.
