    Default West coast ff rental/event

Jason has been temporarily transferred for up to the next three (3) to four (4) months to the San Fran area and then briefly Utah, resulting in us taking an east coast racing sabbatical. However, " ... as on door closes, another opens ..." So we thought he would do an event or two at either Thunderhill, Laguna Seca, Fontana, Buttonwillow, Sonoma, etc.

What are the best FF events attended by entry, National/Rational/Regional in March, April and May ?

And other than the obvious, and professional (Porter/Doug L), are there other prep shops/members [Apexspeed-SCCA] that rent FF and CF for these events.

Thanks in advance for any info.

The best racing in SoCal is with HSR West and the Series. The driving standards and the cars are top notch. SCCA has managed to shoot itself in the foot down here and destroy Formula Ford racing. (this is from a 38 year SCCA member) Neil Porter has cars for rent in the NorCal area and I have a car in SoCal.

Despite Roland's inputs, we have a couple of quick FFs running in SoPac based on the first couple National/Rationals this year. Ed Erlandson has his Swift tuned up pretty good and has been setting some quick times so far this year.

Check the Cal Club and San Fransisco Region sites for their race calendars. Cal Club is hosting the BFG Super Tour Series race as part of their Double National at Buttonwillow April 28-29, so a good opportunity to score some out-of-Region National points if that is what you are looking for.

Dave Frietas in SoCal may have a FF to rent so he is a contact. Cal Club office can put you in touch with him.

Default FF West Coast Pro Series

    Hi EJ,
Similar in general concept, and always looking for additional racers, there is a West Coast Pro FF series which runs with the F2000 group. Information can be found in the Pacific Formula F Series: http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/show...t=49462http://

The Formula F Series is an extention of the Pacific F2000 series which Les Phillips has been organizing to help the open wheeled crowd out West. http://www.pacificf2000.com/index.html

Honda/HPD supports the series, and Honda pays out a contingency program which is structured the same as the F1600 series. Last year Simon Pagenaud raced in the Las Vegas event with the HPD Piper to help promote the series.

Hopefully, Jason can get his Swift in a few of the races while out West.

Neil Porter should be able to support Jason in running a fast Swift

I attended the SCCA rational (combined regional and national) at Willow Springs as a spectator yesterday, and there were (only) 3 FF cars running in the event.

    Default west coast FF

    Hi EJ

As your base is SF, and you want to rent, your best choice +++ and first phone call should go to Neil Porter. 1-209-722-7373. His cars win, period.

Want a piper call Doug, Didn't JRII do that?
Want a crossle, I would call Paul Curly, he has 2 ready to go today.
I have also dealt with Dave Freitas, a good team, focused on FF2000

    And where to race?
Many people with opinions that vary greatly.
Again as you are based in SF, the regional series there is good.
As flagger Mark has said, the April BFG event at Buttonwillow has traditionally been a good event. Fontana follows soon after.

The FF super series is at Willow Springs in a month, later at Buttonwillow. However for the 2-fer, you want to be at Fontana in June as the weekend includes both series.

HSR has had the most entries the last couple years, you race on American Racers tires only. Check out posts from David Halliday on Apexspeed.

    Welcome to the west coast.
