It will be interesting!!!! Mid-Ohio should be the biggest event of the season, and all in front of the ALMS, Indycar, World Challenge and USF2000. Very exciting weekend!

Just to provide some additional information/clarification on the shootout.

Mid-Ohio will be the site of the 2012 East-West series Shootout. This is the final event of 2012 for the West Coast F1000 Pro Series. West Coast Pro Series drivers will be able to use Hoosier if they are running for the West Coast points and prize fund.

All drivers from the East or the West that want to run for the East Coast Formula 1000 Championship Series points and prize fund must run on their spec Goodyear tires and be registered for the East Coast series.

We of course will be doing our best to match both the prize and tow fund for our West Coast drivers for that single race event.

Race entry fees will be the same for drivers from both series.

All cars from either West or East must conform to the SCCA Pro Racing Rules & Regulations and all drivers must have a SCCA Pro licence to compete. This shouldn't be an issue with our West coast drivers as nearly all of them already have the required races to qualify for a SCCA pro license.

Thomas, will those tires be in addition to the tires that Hoosier currently awards at all nationals?

The tires will not be in addition to the national program. But we are getting more tires awarded than in the national program as we are also receiving tires for 3rd place and an additional tire that will be given away each race in a random drawing.

In addition we have a tire award for a two of our races (Laguna Seca) that takes place over a double regional race weekend that surpasses that of the national program. We'll announce the exact details later.

Add in the central United States non regular series drivers as guests on tires of their choice and turn the event into a triple blitz. Give each group (East, West and Central)an identifying color swatch for the crowd to follow the drama and make a real barn burner of an event.

The guys from the epicenter of the country have the choice of running for the west or the east, as do any teams that are not regulars in either series. They just need to register with the series they want to run with.

We will have different colored rear wing number placards for the east and the west, specifically for this event, so fans can differentiate the cars and be able to root for the series of their choice.

Anyone in the mid-West or other part of the country that wishes to run this event as a one-off event on Hoosier Tires can register with the West Coast F1000 Pro Series. The race entry fee you will pay to the East Coast F1000 Championship.

This should open the door for all those with an F1000 car that would wish participate in the event.

Default This IS too much fun!

Due to the grand efforts of Jon and Tom (and the catagory's founding fathers, of course), F1000 is perhaps the premier American formula car series this side of Indy car.

What a great catagory F1000 has become. With a tire-war shootout soon to come? Unreal. And in front of lots of fans.

Now we only need for some entity like Speed Channel to cover the thing. Great, great job, all!

Boasting a little prematurely, no?...Enthusiasm is great but why don't you wait until these series have a 2012 race or two under their respective belts before getting too carried away?

Never too soon to get excited about the possibilities as far as I'm concerned. But also true that there is a difference between desire and implementation. But this is shaping up to be a great event. We just need all the competitors to come out and race.

SpeedcastTV will be shooting the event, as it will all the Formula 1000 Championship Series events. It will be available to watch on demand anywhere in the world. Mid-Ohio will be two races within one race. West coast registered teams will be running for west coast points and prizes, while the east coast registered teams will be running for east coast points and prizes. But, their will also be the battle over which drivers and which tires are the best. It should be an exciting show to watch.

Every day, more and more people are getting their audio/visual entertainment over the internet. Free access to this media anywhere in the world and at anytime you want to watch opens up a whole world of new fans. There is a reason beyond cost why we went with this medium. We're not limited in time, commercial breaks, or even content. It enables us to put on a "show" unlike any other in motorsports. Our reality show style format will enable the viewers to get to know the personalities of the drivers and teams. They no longer will be just helmets in a race car. We can tell a story about what is really involved in racing and from the driver and team perspective. It will be a show filled with personal interest stories as well as action-filled excitement. A show where not just the die-hard race fan will enjoy, but also the mainstream audience.

We hope that everyone will tune in to watch all of our races. Mid-Ohio will be our crown jewel as it will be the site of the East-West shootout, tire wars between Goodyear and Hoosier, all at a huge event in front of the American Le Mans and Indycar crowd. It will be great to be able to showcase both Series at this event.

Even though we haven't turned a wheel yet, the 2012 season looks to be a very exciting one for both the Hoosier F1000 Pro Series and Formula 1000 Championship Series presented by Goodyear. With both series running under a similar rules package, it should establish F1000 as a viable alternative for young drivers, mechanics and engineers looking to make a career in the world of auto racing.

So, are we excited....of course we are. But, we also know we've got a lot of work ahead of us.

But, back to the start of this thread, it's excellent news that Hoosier has become the title sponsor of the F1000 Pro Series. The west coast guys look to have an exciting year ahead of them.
