VisionX Sportswear and VisionX Custom Graphics Joins Debuting Formula 1000 Championship Series as an Official Partner Supplier

VisionX parent company SPEEDCOM Communications also steps up in support of new open-wheel racing series

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 14, 2012) – VisionX Sportswear and VisionX Custom Graphics – divisions of SPEEDCOM Communications – have entered into a partnership with the new Formula 1000 Championship Series that will see the VisionX companies, and parent organization SPEEDCOM, fully support the first-year open-wheel series in its inaugural racing season in 2012.

Set to take to the track for the first time during the Victoria Day SpeedFest, May 18 - 20, at Mosport, which was recently rechristened Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the Formula 1000 Championship Series will feature 10 rounds over five weekends in the eastern half of North America in its inaugural season. Sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing, the Formula 1000 Championship Series was designed to provide a cost-effective, yet globally relevant arena for open-wheel racing in North America.

“The new Formula 1000 Championship Series is based on many of the same qualities that drive our daily business at the VisionX, SPEEDCOM and our related ventures,” said SPEEDCOM/VisionX owner and principal Toto Lassally. “We are based in North America but produce quality products at the right price that are used by motorsports competitors in winning programs around the world. Similarly, success in the Formula 1000 series could open the door to other international opportunities for emerging competitors. We are looking forward to a long and successful partnership with the VisionX/SPEEDCOM companies and the Formula 1000 Championship Series.”

VisionX Custom Graphics provides a complete line of custom wraps and vinyl applications suitable for every aspect of a modern motorsports program, from basic car numbers on up to custom designed and full color vehicle, transporter and pit support equipment wraps. VisionX can also make sponsor banners and applications to fit just about any surface one can imagine to cover with vinyl graphics. VisionX Sports Wear is a rapidly growing motorsports oriented uniform and sports wear manufacturer and supplier. From crew shirts for a small team to orders in the thousands, VisionX can design, layout out and produce as little as a dozen shirts with just a 15 to 20 day lead time after approval of the art work.

SPEEDCOM, the worldwide leader in motorsports radio systems and equipment, will also supply Formula 1000 Championship Series teams and drivers. Although SPEEDCOM’s at-event support will be limited, its experienced staff is available seven days a week to assist F1000 teams both now and throughout the inaugural season.

In celebration of its partnership with the new series, VisionX and SPEEDCOM are offering an incentive discount program for the first Formula 1000 Championship Series competitors to purchase their graphics, crew uniforms and radio systems. Although the first race is over three months away, Formula 1000 competitors that place orders now could be in line for significant savings on their graphics, apparel and communications needs. “We are very excited to partner with VisionX Sportswear, VisionX Graphics and SPEEDCOM,” said Formula 1000 Championship Series Managing Director Jon Lewis. “VisionX produces some the highest quality uniforms and graphics on the market and their service and price is second to none. SPEEDCOM is a highly regarded motorsport radio communications company and it all adds up to provide the quality and commitment to service that fits the Formula 1000 mold.”

Although far from a “spec” series, Formula 1000 cars are built to a globally universal set of regulations and powered by 1-liter, four-cylinder racing engines that can produce over 12,000 rpm with power ranges in excess of 180 horsepower. Weighing only 1,000 lbs (with driver) F1000 cars are capable of speeds in excess of 160 mph, with tremendous acceleration, braking and cornering speeds. With a performance range and handling characteristics just under Formula Atlantic or Formula 3, after a season or two in F1000, a driver should have the experience to go directly into Indy Lights or similar formulas in Europe or around the world.

Owned and operated by racers, SPEEDCOM and VisionX products are annually tested and proven in the most demanding races in the world, such as the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and similar endurance events.
