2012 Schedule finalized
New Jersey added

A June 8-10 event at New Jersey Motorsports Park has been to the 2012 Formula 1000 Championship Series schedule and will replace the Watkins Glen event previously scheduled. The Championship will run with USGT at New Jersey, as it will at VIR.

“We are very excited to be going to New Jersey with USGT in June,” commented F1000’s Jon Lewis. “Although Watkins Glen would have been a great event for the Series, New Jersey offers some increased benefits. The Championship and teams will receive more track time and better time slots, hotel costs will be half the cost and not being back to back weekends will save our teams time away from their other responsibilities. It will also be less costly for our drivers under 18 as they will not have to go through the minor emancipation process required for Watkins Glen.”

Lewis continued, “Dealing with NARRA on our events at New Jersey and VIR has been a real pleasure and they have been very accommodating. The Championship will have premium on-track time and will cost most teams less than our previously announced date. We are always looking at ways we can keep costs low to the majority of our teams while providing the greatest amount of quality track time. There will be no further changes to our schedule for 2012.”

The Formula 1000 Championship Series will share the billing of the New Jersey event with the United States GT Championship on the 2.25 mile, 14 turn circuit.
