    Rick,

the 92D you're thinking of was Brian Groza's (chassis 13) which was originally brought into the states by Mark Brannon (along with this car)
You'd sure look good in this car!

    Cheers,

    Scott

I'd at least look proportional! The FC fits like a cheap suit.

For the unitiated, how much of the Holden engine is common with the stateside Buick V6 and what variant, i.e. odd fire, evenfire, etc. In other words, if engine go boom, can it be repaired / replaced with relatively inexpensive and available parts from the States?

Essentially the same as the 3800 VIN stateside Buick. Very reliable 340hp @ 6750 rpm(7200 rpm limiter) Options w/ the 3800 are numerous (turbo, supercharged) if desired or some development has been done using Buick 2.0L Ecotech that makes 275 hp stock.

Big exception is that the Holden has the starter motor on the 'wrong side' - to suit the RHD cars in Oz. Basic block casting is different. They also had various quite weird ways to adapt a starter motor to the smaller flywheel/ring-gear including angling the motor but still using straight ring gear teeth. Apparently it worked.

For what it's worth I adapted a Buick V6 Indy Lights to fit my F3000 (which is what Formula Holdens were originally) and included an electric starter system to replace the F3000 air starter. It can be done.

Guess what I'm saying is that if the worst happens you can use an Indy Lights engine - George Montgomery still has half a warehouse full.
