    Default Jacer question

I noticed in the classifieds here a Jacer for sale. When I was looking at the photos I saw that the Jacer had Large openings in the rear bodywork similar to that of The Lazer. Are they ducted different than the Lazer? Is that why They are allowed to be open and the SCCA requires the Lazer's Openings closed? Or is it because they are a FIRST and not a Vee?

    Thank you Bill!
I know of two reasons why now.
Got to ask, thats how we learn. Looks like the ducts in the FV version of the MK3 stay covered.

The Lazer was one of the cars that pushed the fan shroud rules in the early 80s and prompted re-writing of those rules. "Basket handles" allowed room for the fanshroud but let air flow through. The Lazer put back panels on the "basket handles" but they just steered air through the tail and not through engine fins, oil coolers, etc. If you read the current FV rules, you will see that any air that comes through the fan shroud area must be treated in a very specific manner. The Lazer people decided they had enough "cooling" air and chose to push air outside and around the fanshroud.
