Default Swift DB1 - original damper build

Wondering what the original spec for the DB1 dampers was.

    Alloy or steel?
    Also after Koni part #...

Set up sheet from Swift has single and double adjustable Koni as original fitment.

Need to know if alloy or steel as I need to return the car to original specification.

Searched Apex and the interweb but no luck as yet.

    Keen to hear, thanks.

When I bought my DB-1 it had Koni 8211's on it. I think they were the original shocks but I can't be sure. 8211's are steel.

    Default Alloys

    Mike, and all, thanks.

I wonder there is any existing documentation from Swift indicating when alloys were introduced 'officially'.

We know they were available- and now we know some cars ran them for sure.

The rule makers here need documentation. A long shot- does anyone have a factory build sheet/spec for a car with alloys? Or some other document from period?

The alloy/steel debate here flares up....often....

    Default Swift DB-1 damper

Steel, Alloy was not legal back then.
30 series, single adjustable Koni was standard.
D/A 8211 series Koni was optional

    Default Thanks

Wondering also what the front and rear sizes, lengths and other specs are for both.

Or additional part info. Seems there's numerous options in 8211s.

Sorry for the extra questions.....one small step at a time for a noob.

If you don't get any responses, I can look at the numbers stamped in my old ones. But I won't have access to them until this weekend.

    Keith,

My car appears to have 3012 doubles in alloy.

Still wondering if there are docs from SWIFT identifying which parts.

Mine is 1985 build so they may have varied a lot.

    Still checking....

Sorry I can't help you more. I never owned a Swift, I just happen to remember the basic information on the dampers they used.

    8211 1316 B2 front

    8211 1316 B3 rear

You can look up the lengths from the 1316 part no. B number is the valving.

    Default Swift DB-1

That model Koni had a Eye to Eye extended length of 363 mm and a closed (no bump rubber) Eye to Eye length of 243mm.
I'm not sure which bump rubber they had nor if they used any packers with it.
