When will the 2012 Schedule be released?
When will the 2012 Schedule be released?
There is a preliminary schedule out.
I believe the confirmed schedule is supposed to be out by our AGM. When is that? No idea....

Where would we find the prelim? Maybe it is listed some where so forgive me if it is but I haven't seen it.
May 5/6 BEMC – Mosport International Raceway
May 26/27 DAC – Shannonville Motorsport Park
June 15-17 VARAC Festival Mosport International Raceway
June 30/July 1 BARC – Mosport International Raceway
August 4/5 BARC – Mosport International Raceway
September 1/2 MCO – Calabogie Motorsport Park

Are any of those dates listed above going to be considered one day events as we did have an issue with that last year.
I know there was some discussion about the September 1st race in Calabogie. Since it is usaully BARC's Labour Day Gran Prix.
I'm going postal if we don't do Calabogie.
Its my home track and I've never driven a Vee there.
thanks for posting Guy,
i wont speculate what the 6 will be because that tends to cause issues at the ORO.
i sincerely hope calabogie is on the schedule, short loop or full, short loop suits the 1200's nicely as well. full track is easily the toughest of all 3 circuits to master.

Ill beat the crap outa my Teddy-Bear if we dont do Calabogie......a lovely track to drive on.
I know that during the F1200 meeting it was noted that there was concern BARC had their shorts in a knot regarding the date. Since it is historically "Their" date at Mosport, and since they supply a large portion of the volunteers for all the races....The rest would be rumours.
From what i know, the Calabogie date is very strong.
There will be NO one day events
The only non f1200 race weekend is the september 15,16 weekend

We weren't on it two years ago, at least I don't recall it then. I think Andrew we both ran the Friday test day there but there was no vee race that weekend. There was a one day July 1st race weekend that wasn't on the schedule this year.
This past year we were on the schedule.

It funny how things change.
My first year in F1200 was 2005, which isn't that long ago and we ran two Pro-Races, Victoria Day and the Father's Day/CASCAR weekend, we ran both BARC wkds and avoided the BEMC weekends, as they refused to garrantee our own race. The Pro-Races, consisted of 2- 30 minute races, so we had 6-weekend, 16 race season. Incidentally, the Labour Day weekend was run by CRDA.
But, as I understand it, CASC were very keen that we support their weekends, especially if we wanted our own race group. CASC were also keen that fences were mended with BEMC. The last Pro-Race was Victoria Day in '07 if memory serves me correctly.
To my knowledge F1200 hasn't run at the VARAC weekend, but I believe that F/Ford has, so it is not completly out of the question, just unlikely.
One benefit of not going to the BEMC Indian Summer weekend is that would save Bill Vallis being in two places at once, as it clashes with the Run-Offs.
What's a typical entry fee for one of these weekends?
Chris
This year it was C$375 pre-entered, C$400 on the day.
That gets you Practice, Qualifying and a race on Saturday.
Warm-up and two races on Sunday.
i guess it does move around, and yes you're right steve about the test day in 2010, it was not a f1200 weekend.
i'm sure the executive will do whats best for the series and I'm sure that those clubs who will guarantee our own races will be the prefered destination.
i remember running the speedfest pro weekend in 2007, it was my first races ever in 1200. from what i recall we had the biggest car count of series running that weekend.

So Shane is it safe to say this will be our schedule next year?
May 5/6 BEMC – Mosport International Raceway
May 26/27 DAC – Shannonville Motorsport Park
June 30/July 1 BARC – Mosport International Raceway
August 4/5 BARC – Mosport International Raceway
September 1/2 MCO – Calabogie Motorsport Park
September 29/30 CASC/Mosport – Mosport International Raceway
If this is it then it seems like a good split over the year. Last year we had a long break after the first event.
Looiks well spread out. I think they captured every long weekend as well!
much better than last year!
i've always actually prefered to not be on long weekends but whatevs

I think I'm the only one who likes the 1-day events.
Don't flame me...I can appreciate those with a lot of stuff don't see the value in showing up for a single day.
F1200 has never run on a VARAC weekend, but yes, FFord used to have a points paying race on that weekend. That got dropped a few years back. There has been some talk in the past couple of years about F1200 running on the VARAC weekend, since there would be more exposure as far as spectators go. It attracts more people than some of the pro races at Mosport. The idea got canned because there wasn't enough room to put is in on our own grid...we would be put in with the wings and slicks, which is basically equivalent to Formula Libre (sometimes faster....think second generation Can Am)

Again, if I remember correctly, the first one day meeting happened by accident. It was supposed to be a two day meeting, run in conjuction with SCCA, but when SCCA pulled out there weren't enough CASC races to justify two days, so it was shoehorned into one. And I totally agree with Steve, three races in one day was too much.
However, a qualifying and two race format, run in one day for a reduced price and we might be in business.
Nelson Ledges ran a one day meeting to this format for $100, in 2010 and it got their best entry of the season.
Wasnt the one day event a Marshalling shortage?not sure tho as I have a memory shortage at my age
i'd definietly run that one day format Guy just listed, for the buck if it was possible.

Last year we couldn't get group to agree to the one day event at Shannonville so they cancelled. Maybe it had to do with the track & driving that far for a one day event & trying to squeeze three races in.
The FTDA made it pretty clear in emails last year they did not want any one day events.
Love racing, but Practice, Qualifying and 3 races in one day is just too much. During the meetings last year, it was everyones concern that mechanical issues or incidental contact would ruin chances of participating in the next race.
That being said, I would rather do a 1 day, that loose a weekend in the season
MCO has announced that the Castrol Touring Cup guys will be racing at the Ted Powell weekend...so it should be a packed schedule.
Confirmed the long track.
Should be a great weekend! We shouldn't have much of a problem getting a big grid out for that weekend
