Not trying to kill a sale, but why not put the car away for a year - sit it out - I know it is tough (going on my 3rd year...) and come back in 2013 - the class isn't going away.
Start a Christmas Club type savings account and put away $50 a week as seed money.
Or, start a new business and rent it out. Check out other rental companies for fees and insurance deposits. Maybe you can pay for your racing that way - just remember to check out your renters.

I agree with Chris, give it time....we will be sorry to see you sit it out now after all you have done.

Bob:
I agree with the other guys.
Is the car for sale because there is no financing, or because you need to recoup funds from the contractor hoseing you?
Don't sell your car you will regret it.... I do every summer I sit the season out! If need be run a few solo II events with it to keep sharp, and have fun. Save up and rejoin the group in a year or two.

Unless you gotta have the cash, stash the car for a while...

makes no sense having to spend twice as much to buy it back in the future!
As someone that has sold out of racing several times (ARCA Stock Car, USAC Silver Crown, Dirt and Pavement Late Models, Go Karts, SCCA Spec Miata and SCCA Formula First) and having always bought back in let me say if you have any thoughts of racing down the road hang on to what you got. It is easier to dust it off than to buy it back. Good luck either way.

Well a deal has been struck and the good news is I'll still be racing in 2012 but will be running FV locally.
Trading the Citation for an FV and much needed $.
Best case scenario I think
